As far as I know, there aren't any products of this kind. I agree it might be great for practising - using VDI-usb cable you can get information what tone you play on each string using proper (and curently not available/not known) software, so you can track how precisely you play this or that....
There is an authentic guitar game call RockSmith on PC, XBOX 360 and PS3 that is quite fun to play, works with all guitars and uses the 1/4" jack. Awesome with JTV as easy to dial in alternative tunings. Let you know when you hit wrong frets/chords and has a few inbuilt mini games for technique like chords, scales, bends etc.. Here is link to site: http://rocksmith.ubi.com/rocksmith/en-gb/home/index.aspx
I have the rocksmith game for PS3 and enjoy the arcade more than the included song library.
I think it is a fantastic leap beyond guitar hero since it utilizes a real guitar.
I am looking for the next technology leap which uses digita information as rocksmith audio tracking is still very limited in its accuracy. For example, Rocksmith is rewarding most of the time as long as you hit the right pitch regardless of which string ou play or where on the fretboard you play it.
I am also seeking what would be the complimentary/opposite focus of Rocksmith i.e. 5% entertaining me and 95% training me to entertain.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
