  1. No offense, but that's like asking a Windows to do a Mac thing or a Mac thing to do a Windows thing. Just because it has amps from XT now, doesn't mean it can load XT presets, because like silver said, the engine is different. It's why you can't load Workbench files into Workbench HD, even though they "do the same thing" (emulate guitars)
  2. I haven't adjusted any of the string volume on the patches. Seems like the single coil guitars need string adjustment the most whenever it happens.
  3. Exactly. The configuration is more in depth as well, something I don't get why they don't do on the JTVs, especially the ability to split humbuckers or use the piezos without modeling. Parker Flys are also really nice guitars.
  4. Someone said something about a parameter EQ on the Variax. modeling. I think this would be amazing, but I'm not sure if Line 6 could fit that into the guitar, memory or processor-wise. Would be nice to have a 3 band EQ to shape up the tone a bit more. Sometimes the patch sounds great, but just needs more bass or treble, or whatever. Yes I know that we can just throw an EQ in front of our chain, but I just think it would be cool. Might help kill the whining, and it'll expand Workbench.
  5. a few dabs of super glue, glue it to the knob. let it dry.
  6. I would imagine opening the back and doing something would risk voiding the warranty?
  7. Well like I said, I switch between magnetics and Spank on my 69s (sss config) and it sounds nearly identical. There is a small high roll off on the modeling, but that's about it.
  8. I always make sure the ends come out if a string breaks. Did they ever fix this issue? Didn't they put like a cable washer thing in later versions? I have a late 2013, am I ok? I'd rather not void the warranty just by opening the back like that guy did in the photos.
  9. Even then, going in and out of modeling to mags on my 69s sounds very close. The only time I can hear a difference is running the signal dry. Again, every single guitar sounds different from one another, even the guitars that were produced the same year and design can end up sounding different. Expecting a 50's/60's strat to sound like a modern strat is ridiculous.
  10. Your skewing things I said which is ridiculous and I never said anything about the JTVs other than wanting one because I wanted to try the HD and Alt tuning abilities. I can't believe you're being so aggressive over legit problems on a guitar as if I'm void of talking about it because I was expecting to get a JTV that didn't have any flukes? It's like ordering a ham sandwich and not getting ham and saying "BUT YOU PRAISED HAM SANDWICHES SO MUCH! NOW YOU DON'T LIKE IT?" You're being absolutely ridiculous. I have every right to complain about trivial problems with the JTV, the biggest offender being the piezo issue. I never said these guitars are bad, I love the Variax, but I have every, single, right to say "This isn't right, there's a problem with my guitar" or else you might as well abolish this entire message board, because that's the whole point of this place.
  11. Yesterday, I had a alarming experience with the model knob on Custom 2 flickering to Reso. Turning the knob back and forth fixed it. Is this something I should be concerned about? Has this ever happened to anyone else at all? I'm really really hoping it was a freak incident with the potentiometer just being off for that instance. I found out it was Reso because it was position 2 and when it was doing it, it was the sitar model.
  12. Yeah, except I can't create a twangy Telecaster like I could before because of the reduced body numbers.
  13. If they had a maple neck option I probably would have gotten this over the JTV.
  14. Also keep in mind, I changed my view on the situation after a while. That's why it looks like I'm "on the fence". I have never noticed the ghost note problem before, but that's because I never used Drop D to do chugging metal riffs, it was always Drop A# or something low like that, where the ghost notes don't have room to resonate. I did find out that my Variax 600 actually does have the same problem. The Third guitar I got does seem to be a little bit better than the second, but that could easily just be my imagination. I really love the JTV now, it's just, sometimes this guitar scares me on how many problems is can have, and that's why Line 6 needs to up their quality control, ESPECIALLY on that piezo quack problem. There's no excuse on not being able to plug a finished Variax in and hear for any strings that sound inconsistent to the rest. I know they print in their thing about "tone being subjective" but there's a difference between tone, and a guitar making a noise it's not supposed to. It's like if it made a fart noise and they said "well, some people like fart noises, they think it's funny!" and passed it off even though the finish result of a Variax isn't supposed to make that noise in the first place. I'm not saying Line 6 is bad, I'm just saying they need to focus on fixing that problem and not ignore it. We shouldn't have posts about "why does my E string sound like a screaming duck". Check the sound of the piezos, if you find a bad one, swap it out for a better one. It's that simple for them to do.
  15. I'm sorry, but it sounds like you're making fun of my problems. I paid 1k for a guitar, and that's the highest I've paid for, and getting possibly bad guitars out of the box is frustrating, and I'm just trying to use these forums on whether or not I should send the guitars back or not. My first guitar I thought had a problem because there was crackling noise in the audio in certain settings. Little did I know this was just a glitch in the firmware. I sent back a perfectly good guitar. The second had inconsistent string sounds and had a noisy tremolo. My current guitar is good, but sometimes it sounds like the mechanical noise bleeds into the pickups more than the other Variaxes I played. Maybe it's my imagination? I hope so. I apologize, but even if you said you were joking, it did sound very aggressive and mocking.
  16. Yeah, the JTV has a more jangly attack when hitting the strings hard, the actual SG doesn't. It sounds really nice. The I could of maybe put the values in the electronics a little lower, but eh. I'll check it out later.
  17. No problem. The Jaguar seems to be better on the lower strings than the top strings. If I find any better settings, I'll post updates, but it sounds pretty close to me, probably closer than the 1.9 versions honestly. The SG sounds so close though, it's scary. Sounds almost like the exact same guitar, but it's just the 89 with the pickup positions adjusted a bit differently. Has more bite than the Lester or 89 models without sounding too honky.
  18. I wouldn't be surprised if they are on the device in the firmware, just Monkey or whatever needs you to unlock them. Unless you go through some process where you download it onto the POD, then it is the case. Either way, trying to ask to unlock them through unconventional methods is ridiculous. It's like walking into a police station and asking if you can stab a cop.
