I tried it at NAMM on Thursday. Sounded good and was easy enough to use. As a Helix owner I'm not compelled to get one of these but at $999 it seems like a good unit albeit with a MUCH more limited signal path and feature set.

It's Helix as a plug-in. Trust me on this one. Possibly other announcements too but not sure about that.

I'm using the Helix with an old Boogie Mark IIb combo. I'm running the helix in front of the amp only and also using the helix to control the channel selection on the amp. This all works just fine until I'm in the drive channel of the amp (selected via the Helix) and try to assign anything to Exp 1. Anything I have set to Exp. 1 doesn't sweep properly and is glitching between 0% and 3-4%. This only happen when I'm on the drive channel of my Mark IIb. Works just fine when on the clean channel. Oh and anything on Exp. 2 works fine no matter what as far as I can tell. Any clue what it happening here?

You have a ground loop. I had the same issue with my '82 Boogie Mark IIb and my Mesa Electradyne. Solved it with a Hum-X from Ebtech.
