Here's a few things to check:
Is your new computer listed under Authorized Devices?
Are your model packs listed under Activations? These would be listed under Purchase History and Software Add-ons. The activation code is under Product Activations.
That's all I can think of. Line6 should be able to help you with this.

If you search for Weir on Customtone for PODXTLive, there are a few you could try.

Submit a ticket to Line6 support.

I have no idea what you are trying to say. What is the problem? Is it that your PODXTLive is dead? If so, perhaps this link will be helpful.
-
You can do that using the Line 6 Edit app from the Line 6 site. It will allow you to export a list of all your tones to an HTML file that you can edit. Unfortunately, it doesn't give you any information other than the location and the tone name. When you select a tone, it will open a window with graphics showing you the current settings for that tone and you can edit them. You can see all the sections at once which makes it much easier to edit than twisting the knobs on the POD. It also allows you to back up your settings into bundles. There is also a tuner for your guitar.

Did it not accept the actual date you purchased it used? If not then just put any date a few years in the past since the unit is probably out of warranty by now. It says the copy of the receipt is optional. Then you should be able to register it and download patches and software. You said you purchased it used.

I'm not an iMac user, but unless your's is really old, you should be able to connect the PODXTLive to it via a USB cable. Then you need to install the driver for it on your iMac. You can get the driver on the Line6 site at https://line6.com/software/ . I believe you want Version 7.6.8 and it says it works on Catalina. I don't think you need POD Farm to download custom tones from the CUSTOMTONES page. You might need Gearbox or Line6 Edit to send the tones to the PODXTLive. They are available on the Line6 site, but you may have to dig around for them since the PODXTLive is an old product (at least to Line 6). I still use mine all the time.

The POD XT does not have bluetooth so you would need to get a bluetooth interface, however, I believe it's going to give you latency (delay) that may not be acceptable.
-
Are you using the ASIO drivers?
-
You'd need to have a MIDI guitar or a Guitar synth to do that. There are a few options out there.
-
What audio interface are you using? You probably need to lower the buffer size to 128 samples or lower to eliminate the latency.

From the manual:
If, for any reason, or just for the sheer mad joy of it, you decide you need to reset
your POD’s memory to its factory-programmed state, hold down the Up and
Down buttons as you turn on the power. That’ll blow your POD’s memory and
reset it just like it was when it left the Line 6 factory.
Warning: This will erase ALL the channels, as well as the custom amp and effect
settings you might have created. So be sure and ask yourself “Do I really want to do
this?” If the answer is yes, go on ahead with your bad self.
Word to the wise: Don't put electronics in an attic. Attics can easily get over 100 degrees.

Are you using the Balanced or Unbalanced outputs? Use the Unbalanced output if you're using a standard guitar cable or the Balanced output if you have a TRS cable. You can tell the difference between the two because the Unbalanced cable has only one plastic ring on the tip of the plug and a Balanced will have two. You should not be using the S/PDIF outputs.
If you're using the Line output setting, that means you're connecting it to a mixer or recorder. Set it to Amp if you are connecting it to an amplifier.
Also, try switching the Line Input level switch from -10 to +4.
Also, make sure you have a preamp included in your settings. The output of guitar pickups is very low, so you need a preamp in the chain to get the level up to line level which then feeds the amplifier.
For future reference, it will really help if you tell us what equipment you have and how they're connected.

Line6 does have a support group: https://line6.com/support/tickets/
Also, if you think it was defective, eBay will help you get a refund from the seller.

Open a ticket to Line 6 support. They do support their products. The forum is user supported. It's possible their support people can help you.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the firmware. I doubt that would cause the distortion. Check out that video link I sent you and see if that helps. At least you should be able to hear what the presets should sound like.
-
The Aux input bypasses all of the effects so that's not really a good test. Are you using it on batteries or with the plug? Batteries don't last very long on the PocketPod. Did you try it with the Drive knob turned down? You should read the manual about the Drive control since it has several functions or watch this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzHQQ15AR30. That video will show you how it should sound (which is actually pretty darn good).
-
If the clean presets sound distorted then you either have a bad Pod or you may be overdriving the inputs. Describe your setup and we may be able to help more.

Are the specs of the AC power supply EXACTLY what is required for the POD? If not, you run the risk of damaging the unit. The POD power supply is an AC transformer, not DC like a lot of power supplies. If your power supply's output is 9v DC, don't use it.
According to the manual,
"PODXT: Connect only to AC power outlets rated 100-120V or 230V 47-63Hz (depending on the voltage range of the included power supply)."

This is what I have in GearBox which I believe is the factory setting... not 100% sure.

Comp: Bypassed
Cab: 4x10 1958 Tweed B-Man Mic: 67 Condenser 33% Room
Stomp: Screamer 50% Drive - 29% Gain - 50% Tone
Mod: Rotary Drum+Horn : Slow Speed, 22% Tone, 42% Mix

Rvb: Small Room: On, 50% Decay, 19% Mix 50% Tone, 50% Pre

Have you tried running it into a real guitar amp instead of into your computer's sound card? Those usually can't handle the frequencies and levels that come out of a Pod or any other stomp boxes.
-
Did you try it with the A/C adapter? Batteries don't last very long on a Pocket Pod and if you don't unplug the USB cable, the batteries will run down even if it's not on.
From the owner's manual:
A note about battery life. During normal use, Pocket POD will give you 4-6 hours of continuous use when running off good-quality AAA batteries. Battery life is directly related to the amount of effect processing you’re using at any given time. In particular, Reverb tends to be the most power-hungry effect. If you want to get the longest battery Controls & Connections 1•6 life possible, turn the Reverb knob to its minimum position to turn off the Reverb. Of course, only you can decide whether battery life is more important than great tone

You may want to try a factory reset. If that works then try to flash the memory from Line6 Monkey.
POD/POD 2.0/Bass POD/POD Pro: press and hold the up and down arrow buttons as you power the unit on for ~ 5-7 seconds or until it goes to the preset 1-A
