  1. I was reading the Line 6 Connectivity manual and came across the following under the heading "Additional L6 Control Behaviour". When the SetUp - L6 Link:Control option is set to Amp A or Amp B, the following "sync" behaviours also apply between the POD HD Amp model and Channel A of the respective DT series amplifier. The MASTER VOLUME controls are not synced between POD HD or any connected DT amps. The POD HD Master Volume also has no effect on the signal fed to the DT amp. Simply use the DT amp Master Volume knob on each amp to control its volume.
  2. Thanks very much spaceatl for the sites! I wonder why the Hosa cable is so expensive compared to these? I was going to get a 5 footer but at those prices I think I'll get the longer one. Thanks Again! :D
  3. RealZap, you've hit on something. I wasn't sure whether DMX cables could fit the bill but may give them a try. The XLR AES/EBU cable from Hosa isn't all that expensive, around $11.00 for a 5 footer. The Hosa cable with the Neutrik cable ends is the real expensive one. A 5ft one is around $40.00 but it does have better shielding. Thanks!
  4. Thanks spaceatl for the tech explanation. The 110 ohms impedance seems to be the real difference. I'm probably getting to hung up on the specs and since I only need a 10 ft cable am overthinking this. I think I'll still order the AES/EBU version since the signals are digital and it can do double duty. Too bad Line 6 doesn't include the cable with the pod since its their recommendation in the first place. Would just make things a bit teasier for the customer. Cheers! :)
  5. I did check the Hosa site and they listed two XLR AES/EBU cables. One was the Hosa brand and the other was the Neutrik brand. Big differences in the prices between these two cables for the same length of cable. I do believe in purchasing good cables as they are the lifeline of your rig. It's hard to find out what exactly the differences are between regular XLR cables and AES/EBU cables but I believe it has something to do with the capacitance values and possibly shielding properties. It's strange that big music stores don't carry the AES/EBU cables but they can order them for me.
  6. Hey All, I've been trying to buy the correct cable to link my PD HD500X to my DT50 and so far haven't been able to find a store that carries it. Line 6 recommends using an XLR cable that's AES/EBU rated for transmitting digital signals, not a regular XLR mic cable that's for analog signals. What kind of experience have any of you had with using an XLR cable vs the digital version? Any noticeable difference or issues? What brand would you recommend? Thanks :)
  7. Well done Randy! I just read your post and your methodology was perfection! Replies like yours are so helpful and passing the information along will help us amateurs tremendously should we run into the same problem. Nothing worse than waiting to get your amp fixed (correctly if you're lucky) and dishing out hard earned money. I applaud you and all of those on this forum for sharing and making this such a great community. Cheers!!
  8. Bought my midi cables and successfully updated the firmware to V2.0 using my Pre-Sonus audio interface and Line 6 Monkey software. Worked like a charm. I kept the amp in standby mode while performing the update but read that you can put the amp in safe mode if the update doesn't take. Where can I find out more information about the new firmware and what new features there are?
  9. Thanks Geppert. Appreciate the positive feedback. I must say I had some doubts at first about purchasing this amp after reading some negative comments (and sour grapes) but after looking at other options this amp still made the most sense and I do have faith in Line 6 gear. There's a big learning curve ahead of me but I think good things will come about eventually. In this day and age, unless you are independently wealthy and can afford to buy different amps for different sounds this amp makes the most sense, and to be honest, they've gotten so much better than I don't think you could tell the difference in a blind test. Cheers!
  10. I'll be buying some cables today so I can do the reflash/update as well as hooking up my POD HD. Appreciate all the help.
  11. Thanks a bunch everyone. Your help is greatly appreciated. Can I put the amp back to its factory settings by updating the firmware or is that a different procedure? I'll eventually be hooking up my POD HD500X to the amp but would like to see the amp with the original factory topologies it came with before doing anything.
  12. I'm using the amp as a stand alone, plugged directly from my guitar. I'd just like to know whether each of the four topologies will show what operating class that particular one is by lighting up the corresponding operating class light (A/B or A) when you flip from I through IV. I'm trying to determine if there is something wrong with my DT50 as I just bought it used. Thanks.
  13. Should the light that shows whether the amp is in Class A/B or Class A operation automatically switch when you select the different topologies? when I select topology III (Vox AC30) the light stays on for Class A/B operation. Shouldn't it switch and light up Class A? Thanks.
