  1. It is very interesting reading and the easiest 4CM to implement I've run across. I've tested it with a small Peavey Minx 110 amp (35W), as well as a MarkBass (300W) with 12" woofer and 1" tweeter, both with bass guitar. I'm really liking it so far. Next test will be GenzBenz Black Pearl 30 amp with electric guitar. Only hitch I've run across so far is when I downloaded radatats 4CM-4 patch (to use amp's pre-amp). When I first used it I had a very noticeable problem with hum/overload on the smaller amp, particularly on the post-effects "A" side. Eventually looked through patch and found that there were modelled amps with a Treadplate showing on "A" side. Not sure if this happened when I downloaded/opened patch through edit or some other reason. Once I removed amps from both sides it was fine. I'm using it with an HD500 and love not having to use the FX loop. This four cable method is definitely worth giving a try if you're interested in that setup. Thanks to radatats for a great idea!
  2. Thanks for the quick reply. For now I'm going with the two XLR. This is pretty much an at-home setup, at least for now. So far I've only tested with MP3 output, first from laptop and then through HD500. Both sounded very good for single speaker. That also helped me go through the speaker DSP menus and settings. Once I get everything setup in the room I'll plug the guitar in and start figuring out those settings. In the past I've used regular amps and have never really been satisfied, whether going through front, FX return, even 4CM (way too many variables with that one). Since this is primarily a hobby I finally settled on using the most straight-forward method I could find. After a lot of reading on a lot of boards that seemed to be using a FRFR solution with studio/direct setting on HD500. One speaker seems like enough for now to setup some simple patches and concentrate on getting familiar with the amps and DEP. Figure on starting there and working my way into the effects. Should be a lot of fun!
  3. From what I've found the only ones you would be able to convert would be HD300/400/Pro, not sure about HD500X although someone has probably addressed that. There is pinned post on the first page of this forum that contains link for a converter download. Bear in mind you may need to make adjustments to converted patches. The older PODs used different format from any of the POD HD models so I don't believe there is any way to use them. At least that is my understanding. Sorry, not very familiar with Stryper although I do remember the name.
  4. HD500 to EV ZLX-12P powered speaker with two dual 1/4-XLR inputs, both with dedicated volume control in addition to one master volume control for speaker overall. Three questions: If I use XLR outputs from HD500, should I go ahead and use both left and right? Same question for 1/4 outputs with additional question. Will I need to use TRS cables if I go this route or will unbalanced work properly? The dedicated input volume controls on the speaker each have graduations marked "Line" (below unity) and "Mic" (above unity). I would expect to use "Line" for 1/4 connection and "Mic" for XLR connection since I have read that HD500 XLR outputs are mic level. Is this assumption correct? TIA
