I think the thing that is different with Native compared to other plug-ins is that Native allows you to export and import entire Setlists of Presets thus allowing you to remove all the presets that are currently being used by a DAW project. That is perhaps not standard among plugins and something that allows Native to be used live and be similar to other HX products. It seems the answer is, as you say, "create a new preset under a new name that will only be used in each DAW project that uses that new renamed preset." Also, to leave the current Setlists loaded and not import new ones unless you really need to. There are hundreds of Preset slots avaiailbe within the multiple setlists that can be loaded at one time with Native. I don't see myself having to load entirely new multiple setlists at any time soon. Thanks a lot for the taking the time to reply and help out man!

If I, for example, create a preset and I name it Preset1, and then create all the blocks I want with their settings in Preset1. I see that that in my DAW, if I use that same Preset1 for multiple tracks, the settings for each block are saved with each track, which is great. If I change the name of Preset1 to Preset2 in one track, all the tracks using Preset1 are then using the same slot now named Preset2. Not a big deal. If, however, I load an entirely different and new Preset from disk in the same slot as Preset1 I see that it overwrites Preset1 for all DAW projects/tracks using Preset1 with the new Preset! Is the standard procedure then to always make sure I save that Setlist with its Presets and load it into Native for that particular DAW Project to use that Setlist with its Presets? I should not change the name of that Preset slot or load a new Preset into that slot in other Projects/Tracks? I have to somehow remember what Setlist is used on each Project/Track? I would have thought that Setlists/Presets are totally saved in each DAW project, and it would not matter what I do to a Setlist/Presets in other Projects/Tracks? I am using Cubase 13. Hope I am explaining this well enough. Sorry if it's been asked before. Thanks!!!

We all use effects in different ways. For me, setting up a bank of patches for every song is not really something I personally want to do. Having 6 Snapshots is an easier, more flexible method for me. So, I apologize. I should clarify that it would be easier to use professionally for ME. That doesn't make anyone who is fine with 4 Snapshots less professional. Yes, my wording is a little forward because I really would like to see it get done. Being offensive to people that like the current way it is setup was not my intent. More options can be a good thing. Especially, when this is just a software option.

I posted the below in Ideascale, but I wanted to post it here as well. Maybe there is a way to do it. I see one other older post as well about this. It seems a no brainer. It would be VERY helpful... Please give the option to have all 6 switches be a Snapshot. Then switch out of this mode using the mode button. This would be similar to the way 3 Snapshots are avaiailbe in the HX Stomp using only 3 switches. I really think this is important. Snapshots are the only viable way to use the unit live as there is no delay between changes. 4 Snapshots in the HX Effects is too limiting. To use the unit professionally, 6 snapshots are needed. It seems trivial to implement in software. I am really hoping you implement this, please ! Thanks.

Thanks Karl! I do have my Stomp connected to my PC thorugh USB and the PC connected to my Denon though HDMI. This allows the Stomp to be the audio source for the PC for all Windows audio , but I wasn't aware that the Stomps' Guitar signal will playback live? Am I missing something?

Thanks for your opinion Phil. I think you may be right. I still miss the Digital Out.

Hello, I am running the HX Stomp outputs to my Denon power amp on the other side of my room. Since it’s about a 16ft run, there is quite a bit of noise/interference. I tried using an Analog to Digtal converter to run the signal the long distance. Noise was reduced, but I felt the extra A/D conversion wasn’t good. Too bad they didn’t include a Digital Out on the Stomp. It’s the only output connection I miss from my previous HD500X. I was thinking that since the HX Stomp uses Balanced Outputs, I could run balanced cables for the 16ft run, then at the end of the run, covert the Balanced signal to an Unbalanced signal to plug into my Denon power amp with a short cable. I know direct boxes can take a Balanced signal and covert into a Balanced signal. Are there boxes that can do the opposite? Convert Balanced into Unbalanced? Preferably with a RCA jack output? Thanks!!

Thanks for the reply! I am using the power supply provided by Line 6 with the M5. You make a good point. That's what I thought as well. Then I bought a new one with the same issue as my old one. Going to try another unit. Waiting for it to deliver. There is obviously some percentage that is affected by this issue though. I really hope I find a working unit. There is nothing that is midi controlled, small and affordable like the M5 that I know of.

Hello, I have had my M5 for a few years now. It has the fault where upon boot up, the screen will flash. I have tried the suggestions: sand paint off around the screw holes, use unpainted screws etc. It still has the fault. I have to plug in the power multiple times to get it work. I live with it. Yesterday, I bought a new M5 for use in a 2nd rig. IT HAS THE SAME ISSUE! I really like the M5. It does exactly what I need. I don't want to look at another pedal from another manufacturer. Are the majority (or even all) the M5s faulty?! Thanks in advance.

I would like to please recommend the ability to save a preset's inactive effect's setting in the HX Edit software and the Helix hardware. I use the HX Stomp, but if implemented in HX Edit and other hardware, it would be useful for all Helix products. I have effect's units that save their settings for inactive effects for each block. This is useful with limited effect's blocks. You can for example, easily swap a Reverb that is active in a block with an inactive delay from the same block. The inactive delay could have saved settings that you previously adjusted. This makes it easy to swap an effect in the same block without having to adjust settings each time. Especially useful for the limit of 6 blocks on the HX Stomp, but useful regardless of how many blocks. Currently, if you swap out your active effect in a block with a new effect, the previous effect's setting reverts to default settings. If you make the previous effect active again in the block, you have to adjust all its setting again. Thanks Line 6! Really enjoying this latest generation of your products!

Got it. Thanks again Phil! Although, now I am thinking about using my spare Dunlop Crybaby to save using up a block. At least I have the option now. You have been a great help!

Phil_m, Thanks a lot man for taking the time to help me, and knowing your mongoses from mooses! Yes, I have the Moongose. I got it to work as you suggested, by assigning EXP 1 of the Mongoose to CC 1 to mimic EXP 1 of the Stomp. Even though the pedal position works correctly, now when I set the percentage of travel to 5% before auto engaging, I get the reverse of the expected result. Wah is on at 0 - 5% and off 6 - 95%? Any ideas please? Thanks again!
-
For the HX Stomp, I see that there is the following setting to auto-engage the wah block with an expression pedal: Bypass assign – Switch Types – FS1, FS2, FS3, EXP1, EXP2 You can then set the percentage of travel before engaging the wah as well at the delay time to engage. I use an MAudio EX-P Expression Pedal that is plugged in to the EXP slot of a Tech 21 Midi Moose. The Expression pedal is controlling the wah on Midi CC 80. You can see my dilemma... Switch Types – FS1, FS2, FS3, EXP1, EXP2 with NO OPTION FOR MIDI CC as the switch type?! Am I missing something? I love this unit. I would really like to get this working. I can't plug the MAudio pedal directly into the Exp 1 input of the HX Stomp as there is a compatibility issue getting a full travel to 0 percent. Matbe someone has a solution to that? Thanks in advance!!! If there is no solution, maybe Line 6 could add Midi CCs to the Bypass Switch option menu in an update.

You are correct Hurghancio that there is always some trade off either way. To me though in my use ignoring the pedal is the lesser of 2 evils. It does make a difference. Let me use my example, but this time go from a patch that has pedal set as a Whammy 2 Octaves up to a patch that has the pedal set as master volume. You are using the Whammy patch doing your best Tom Morello :) and you complete the solo with pedal in the full back position. You now switch to your rhythm patch that has the pedal set as master volume. You have no sound as the pedal is in the back position. You need push the pedal forward and there was a time where you had no sound! Now, if you have an ignore pedal feature: You switch from the Whammy preset into your rhythm preset with the pedal in the full back position. The rhythm preset was saved with a master volume of 95% and the pedal was ignored when you switch patches. There was no noticeable volume drop as you did not have to set the pedal forward. Yes, when you want to use the pedal in this rhythm patch for the first time to do some volume swells you will have the pedal in the full back position, and the volume will drop. To me though this is the lesser evil of 2 options. So, I know this is not an issue for everyone. I am also just using one scenario of many possibilities. The fact is this option is available on many other devices, and it would be nice as option on the HD500 so we have a choice. Cheers :)

@dbagchee. Thanks for the suggestion, but I like to be able to switch a patch and not have to press anything else. Kind of the purpose of this kind of devices. Not having to the dance live. @Rewolf48. Yup. As I mentioned, I can see how some would want the pedal to behave as it is. It would be nice to have a global option to chose whether to ignore, or not. Line 6, have a look at the TC Electronic G-Major manual. They have the option. I would think that this is possible as a software update.
-
Actually never heard that expression before. I just goggled it though, and I sure can use that expression multiple times a day lol.
-
Thanks for the suggestion. Moving the pedal forward to go lower would be counter intuitive though. Also, I just mentioned 1 example, but there are many more I can think of. I kind of figured this is not possible. Thankfully I use my HD500X at home only right now, and I love it for that purpose. I think not having this option is not very pro like in a live setting. Line 6, perhaps you can update via software. Thanks again.

Sorry if this has been discussed. I bet it has, but I could not find anything using search. It seems there is no option for the HD500X to ignore the expression pedal when switching patches, and only activate the pedal when it's depressed. While I can see people preferring it this way, it would be nice to have the option to ignore. Options are always good. My G-Major has this as an option. Am I missing something and perhaps it's possible to ignore the pedal position until the pedal is moved? If not, can we get it in an update please? If I am on a patch that uses my expression pedal as the volume, I may have the pedal all the way forward at max volume while using the patch. I now switch to a patch that uses the expression pedal to control pitch/whammy. Well, since the pedal is all the way forward when I switched patches, the pitch effect kicks in, and my sound is 2 octaves up per the pedal position. I must manually move the pedal all the way back to get no whammy effect. This is useless in a live situation, and really a pain playing at home. Thanks for any help!

I believe you may just have the wrong adapter. Try a new one from Radio Shack etc. You want 1/4" Male Stereo to 1/8" Female Stereo. Sounds like you got Stereo to Mono perhaps, which is possible. I have one of those as well.

Could always use the USB out on the HD500X to coonect to a Windows laptop, tablet, desktop etc. I guess the same thing with Apple stuff, but yes wireless would be neat as well. Good idea.

When switching from one patch to another, any effect parameter set to be controlled by an expression pedal will immediately take the value from the position of the pedal. There seems no option for the patch to load and not take the value from the pedal until the pedal is moved. This blows chunks when say, you're using a patch and the pedal to mix in a flanger, play a bit, then load a new patch with a whammy pitch effect. You want to start off the new whammy patch with the pitch effect parameter at 0, so your note is proper. Then, when you move the pedal have the effect kick in. Imperative for live playing. My TC Electronic GMajor allows you to ignore the pedal position until the pedal is moved. The M5 should have this option as well. I don't expect there is answer for this, so I hope that one day the M5 will get an update to include this option. Thanks

The Vyzex Editor, is only an editor. It allows you to use it's interface to adjust settings on the Pocket Pod. There is no audio that is transferred over the USB cable. The Pocket Pod is more meant for practice I think. You can record, but you would have to take a 1/8 cable, plug it into the Pocket Pod's headphone jack, and plug the other end of the cable into your computer's mic in jack, or line in jack. For screwing around at home, this would work, but not be as ideal as the other Pod products.

I figured out that if I set the M5 to receive on Midi Channel 2, I can then call up anyone of the 25 M5 Patches through out my 100+ plus current patches I am using with my FCB1010 foot controller. I just continue to have my Gmajor set to receive on Midi Channel 1. The windows editor for the FCB 1010 is a great tool.

Thank you Phil. Perhaps something for a firmware update in the Future for Line 6. Please...
