  1. I received a new JTV69 yesterday. The guitar works fine when connected to HD500 via VDI cable but the modeling doesn't turn on with battery. I charged the battery for about 7 hours. When the battery in inserted into the battery compartment in the JTV, it shows 4 lights. Does this mean the battery connection in the guitar is faulty or could it be the battery? I am assuming former else the battery lights wouldn't come up showing full charge.
  2. All good points. I am going to seriously consider getting one again. Thanks.
  3. I used to own a JTV and enjoyed it a lot. I sold it after about a year of owning it just cos I was worried that sooner or later the modeling/alternative tunings will fail and it will cost a bunch to get it fixed after the warranty period is over. I have been thinking of purchasing another one again but I have been going back and forth. A lot of people might argue that even without modeling the guitar is worth it for the price but for me if I buy the JTV, it's mainly cos of the modeling. Thoughts?
  4. The Fender Mustang v2 has a studio preamp model which works pretty good as an amp with the POD HD using the 4cm. I have been happy with it.
  5. Thanks, that's what I was thinking too. Either way, as long as the popping doesn't occur while changing patches from the POD because in a live situation, there will be no EDIT.
  6. I knew about the popping sound because of the class/topology changing. So are you saying that it is NOT normal for the popping sound when changing patches via EDIT (if topology/class are the same)?
  7. I noticed today that if I switch from patch A to patch B using the HD500 and the patch is already saved on the HD500, it doesn't make any popping noise. However, if I create the same 2 exact patches and save them as a set and then open them using 'Open Set' via EDIT, the switching always creates a popping noise. Is this because the patches are not saved on the POD and it's reading from the EDIT?
  8. When connected to the DT25 via the L6, I am seeing that the presets are being loaded with amp grayed out/turned off. I disconnected the DT25 and couldn't replicate the issue but with the DT25 connected, I am seeing this again and again. If I select another amp from the dropdown, that loads fine but not the presets. Any help is appreciated. Both HD500 and DT25 are on the latest firmware.
  9. Thanks phil_m. Could you explain how the connections from the HD500 to the amp will look like? Is this HD500 Unbalanced outputs (L and R) to Amp 1 and Amp 2?
  10. As the subject says, can the HD500 be used to send signal to 2 amps, switch between the 2 amps and/or run them in stereo? Thanks!
  11. So I had a weird thing happen with my DT25. Not sure if this is normal. I had it connected to my HD500 via L6 a few days ago and I had played with different models and don't remember what model I left it on when I finished playing. Today, I connected my guitar directly to the DT25 via 1/4 cable and the old model seemed to be stored on the DT25 because I didn't sound like the model III on the DT25. I had to switch the amp model switch on the DT25 to restore the actual amp model on the DT25. Is this normal? Does the DT retain the last amp model played through it (even if that was via HD500)?
  12. I posted this in the Variax forum but I figured makes sense to post here as well since most users in Variax forum already have one.... Hey guys, I have a JTV-69. I got a great deal on the black JTV-59 so I went ahead and bought it. I played it twice but didn't bond as much as I did with my 69. So I don't want to keep it anymore. I have it on ebay but was wondering if anyone here is interested. I can send pictures. On ebay I have it for $840 to account for seller fee but I am willing to sell it outside of ebay for $745 shipped. Comes with the line 6 gig bag and all the accessories. Below is the ebay link, if you want to look at pictures http://www.ebay.com/itm/Line-6-JTV-59-Variax-Guitar-New-/251593358214?pt=Guitar&hash=item3a9421fb86

  14. Stevekc, that's exactly true with mine too. Do you also hear the pick attack on your 59 when you play open chords with slight crunch on it?
  15. See that's another thing. The 59 is completely in tune (using the same tuner for 59 and 69) but still sounds out of tune. Maybe i am going crazy. I should probably get some sleep and try again the morning.
  16. Maybe it's just my ears then. Can you hear the plucking sound (don't know what the exact word would be) on the 59? That's what bothering me the most.
  17. Here are the samples. The first 2 samples are just strumming an open D chord to demonstrate. On the JTV59 (the first sample) you will hear some extra plucking noise.69 sounds smoother. The last 2 are samples for Semi model. This is more subtle but the 69 sounds a little more full as a semi should, I think or maybe it's just my ears here. Again the first sample is the 59. The thing is I can hear the differences more when I strum than when I am just picking. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6769156/JTV59.mp3 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6769156/JTV69.mp3 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6769156/JTV59_Semi.mp3 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6769156/JTV69_Semi.mp3
  18. I've had the 69 for about a few months now and I purchased the 59 which was delivered yesterday. Both of them are on v1.90. When playing through the same preset on the POD HD500, the modeling on the 2 guitars sounds different...very different. Is that expected? I thought the modeling's supposed to sound pretty much the same. And I am, of course, using the same guitar model (Lester setting 1). Also, on the 59 the pick attack is very loud and is very prominent on the recordings. I can post sound samples but wanted to see if folks who own 1 of each have had have similar experiences. Thanks for your help in advance!
  19. Clay-man, if you can also send a screenshot of your model settings, that would be great. I don't have an SG either so no point of reference. Thanks!
  20. Try Lester Position 4. The description is as follows: 1961 Gibson Les Paul Custom This popular incarnation of the Les Paul Custom (later known as SG) offers three PAF’s. The Variax models the combination of bridge and middle pickups that set this Les Paul apart.
  21. Oh, okay thanks! Didn't know that. From the manual, I assumed it's the same models. I still see that the Tele Thinline and the Tele Custom are switched on position 4 and 5. 4 should be Thinline and 5 should be custom as per the chart you posted but it's the other way round. I can change that in workbench.
  22. I am currently on v 1.9 (I decided to rollback from 2.1 to 1.9). Anyways, I was looking at the models change in workbench as I change them on the guitar using the knob and pickup selector switch and I see that there are some inconsistencies between various positions within the same models. Don't know if this is by design or just incorrect. e.g. Looking at the 'Special' bank I see that Position 1 has the body type of Special Junior with Junior 90 pickups but position 3 and 5 (which are supposed to be the N+B and N positions of the same guitar) have the Special Special body with Special 90 pickups. I saw similar inconsistencies within the 'Tele' bank as well. And I am talking about switching positions 1,3 and 5. Not talking about 2 and 4 because I understand that they are models of a different guitar. So does anyone know if this is by design or simply just incorrect and the only thing that should change when I move from 1 to 3 to 5 is the bridge and neck on/off on the pickups? Thanks for your answers in advance!
  23. No this is not the same as I'm using a Les Paul. Happens with any guitar that I plug in.
