davebyers44 replied to davebyers44's topic in Helix
Awesome. I'm on a roll now. Just need to balance some volumes and tweak some tones and I hope to gig with it (using that preset w/ snapshots) Saturday. Hoped to kick it's tires some more today before work but ... life got in the way again... lol -

BINGO!!!! lol! Yes, that was it! I was just starting to type and noticed the new messages. I took your "build kingdom" preset and analyzed it over and over and noticed the strings were all white in helix edit. I right clicked and seen they were all snapshots as well. Changed that on my patch and viola! chuskey, thx I'll ck out your patch as well. Thx for sharing. Thank you so much everyone Dave -
Acoustic /Electric A/B on FS + capo on/off w/ variax

Right, my hope though is to have the capo'd tuning "ONLY" for the acoustic. When I leave that snapshot I want to be in regular tuning. How can I get it to release that tuning when I leave that snapshot? I tinkered putting a tuning in a different snapshot but that took over the tuning in the acoustic snap shot. Needing these to be independent/per snapshot Dave -

So it's working in general now. One issue is that I can't keep a tuning in one snap shot that doesn't move over to the other snapshot. How do I keep them separate? Thx SO MUCH for the help folks! Dave -

I think I stumbled across how to save the variax settings, but I'm still missing something. It's not saving it and "sounding like an acoustic in drop d for instance. Dave -

Thx, but I keep getting this error in the file. Tried it on this one as well as the other time you attached it. :-( Well I can't figure out how to attach a pic, but it says failed to import preset, a model used in the preset is not recognized code -8312 Dave -
lol! So a funny story … well at least it's funny to me so err.. I'll share it. I have been a long time James TAYLOR fan. Very influenced by his picking, fretting etc. His use of hammer on’s pull offs, suspended 2nd, 4th and so on influences me to this day and is heard in much of my playing. So then I hear about this James TYLER guitar that for years I thought was a James TAYLOR. What does James Taylor have to do with an electric guitar? Took several years for me to notice it’s TYLER

Hello everyone. I am looking for 1 preset that would allow me to go back and forth from a standard electric that I can have modeled possibly with my variax of course clean and dirty, but then with a stomp of a footswitch go to an acoustic tone that would also be possibly capo'd. Press the fs again and I'm back to an uncapo'd, non acoustic variax modeled electric guitar. I messed around trying to assign one path to a fs and it shuts off the other path but that doesn't seem to do it. Looking for insight on how to attack this and hoping someone has already tackled this with a preset I can modify to me needs. Wondered if snapshots could be a better answer etc. but I'm still newbie enough to just be dangerous rather than effective. lol! Many thanks for your input. Dave

Wow, L6 (like so many others) does everything humanly possible not to talk to someone. Took 10 minutes to finally find a screen to ask them a direct question. Sent to forums, faq's etc. 5 different times. Anyhow, I've tried to order Helix native software on a mac computer, on a mac notebook using chrome and safari and now today on a windows computer using chrome and IE and no matter what program I use it won't work. I am logged in and I choose a version. I click add to cart... and it refreshes and again asks me to add to cart. Over and over, no matter what computer or browser I use. I tried the windows stuff today at work. Nothing works.

Odd. I go to buy it and the page says to select the version. I do and it blinks and then is like I refreshed the screen. It wants me to pick the version yet again. Over and over no change. Using a mac with chrome and also safari same results. Is this CYBER30 still available? Bought the LT so I pay $200 more (1st bummer) and then 2nd they had a free gig bag deal and... the LT wasn't covered. So, any savings on buying the LT was wasted. Dave

Is it me, or is the app starting a song out oy library just for kicks? Seems when I connect at a gig live it has a habit of starting a song for some reason. On the good side of things, I took a tweed fender 4x10 cab and re-worked the basic preset till it was just a nice, warm clean tone. Then added the hd overdrive as a stomp pedal. Added the typical verb and delay pedals and it sounded great in the studio monitors. Took it to a job Sat night and it sounded fantastic coming out of my k10 monitor. Tried it at church the next morning and liked it there also. :-) I just may be making friends with this firehawk after all... Things to resolve: - song turning on for no reason - lag time on presets - patch normalization - app frequent crashing Hoping for those to be addressed in the upcoming update.

Yea, no doubt. Master certainly affects the tone and amount of gain. Choose volume. Wish there was a preset volume. Then I click back and forth on them and tweak. Then I gig and come home and have to tweak some more. lol!

Kinda silly to call it tone matching then. Tone guessing or tone suggesting might have been better names...

Oh, yea that's not me. I play bluesy, classick rock, contemporary etc. stuff. Not a metal etc. heavy rocker. To me most all patches are very bright. That's been the bummer for me. That, no acoustic sim and still not 100% sold on the basic plexi sound or tube screamer. Balancing levels also a pain. Another gig this Friday, gonna fireup the ipad and hopefully adjust these throughout the 3 hour gig. Otherwise I may take another run at the gt-100 again. I simply must find a floorpedal I can be satisfied with. The old tube amp behind me just isn't the option any more.

There is certainly a gap between presets. The way I overcome this is to put a ditortion pedal on a clean amp. Kick it in whenever you want and you can easily go from clean to distorted WITHOUT changing a preset. Footswitches I always have: - Compressor setup with 5db gain (just so I can get a little more umph if the preset seems low while soloing I can kick this on the preset) - some sort of overdrive - some sort of effect - chorus, rotary etc. to liven things up on and off - delay - verb - footedal at 60% min and 100% max rhythm to lead volume
-
Anyone ever done this? What's the procedure? Didn't see anything in the manual.

Got my firehawk - time to jam - opening thoughts and suggestions

Mega bummer. Used the L6 Firehawk at church yesterday. We use in ears there. Yucko. Gonna need to do some tweaking... The overdrive on top of a fenderish clean just wasn't the tone I was hoping for. I love the size of this pedal (smaller than many other big dudes) but not having an acoustic is a big bummer and I sure not hearing what I hoped for in the in ears. I'll attempt some more tweaking. It wasn't to bad in the powered QSC K10 I use as a monitor but I need it to sound good in the in-ears also. -

No, I'm referring to getting the electric to sound acoustic. Don't want to drag out both an electric AND and acoustic. Many mutli effect pedals have a patch that gives an electric and acoustic sound that does well enough to get you through some songs or parts of songs. Roland's gt100 and it's mini version has a very strong bit of patches for that. The jamup has a real good tone for it also. I was hoping for it here on the firehawk but the acoustic patch sounds more like an electric without an amp. This is one area I think needs addressed by L6 and I'm ghoping it will be on a release though since these sounds seem pulled mainly from the hd500x I would have thought it would be here by now. Maybe if enough of us are mentioning it they'll add one. Would be mighty nice. I intend of banging around on the wah's tomorrow. Haven't gotten into those patches yet. -

1st gig last night. Thought I had my levels even but will need to tweak patch levels a bit more. Overall liked the cleans and most of the overdrives. Will tweak a little. Need to remember better these foot switches and what each does.I get scatterbrained during a set and forget the delay etc. I wish the contrast between a fs being on and off were more. Not always sure if the thing is on or off. Screen window was sorta visibile but may need to tweak that in darker venues. Tuner real easy to see. Love it. Still feeling the acoustic guitar tone is by far the weakest. Live gig seemed to easily confirm that.
