  1. I'm having trouble with channel volumes between left and right channel. I have a Marshall DSL in the left channel and a Marshall JVM in the right channel. Both amps are setup with the 4 cord method so the DSL is in Loop1 and the JVM is in Loop 2. I have normalized the input level by matching up the sound level for the DSL and JVM so I can switch between preset patches and the amps without a noticeable volume change. The problem is when I use the JVM to power both channels, the JVM preamp going into the DSL has a significant volume boost but using the DSL into the JVM. I can adjust the output volume on the JVM with the master volume control but the DSL is still louder than the JVM ... even after using the Pentode/Triode switch in the back. I thought about getting an attenuator but I was wondering if there is a setting to adjust the output levels between the left and right channel? The weird thing is ... if I setup the two amps to run stereo to where the DSL preamp goes to the DSL poweramp and the JVM preamp goes to the JVM poweramp then it's fine. So I'm not sure if an attenuator will even help. Any suggestions?
  2. I have a G55 with the rackmount kit. The kit comes with a bracket "T" to allow two units in the same rack space by attaching to the screws underneath the bumpers in the back. I got the bright idea to add the XD-V55 to my aresenal. The problem is that there is too much of a difference between the two systems. The V55 screws underneath the bumper are recessed a little further than the G55. It should be easy enough to just drill the holes larger to accomodate this but the two units aren't the same depth either and so the "T" bracket doesn't line up. Does anyone know of an existing solution for this or will I need to try to take the bracket apart and weld it back together?
  3. Ahhhh! I see where we are getting our differences from. I agree with you completely that if Line 6 put out some sort patch conversion utility for other Line 6 products to the Helix then there would be a certain amount of expectations that those patches sound fairly similar. I was specifically talking about the Digitech GSP since their patches are stored in XML format. I was also NOT suggesting that Line 6 put out something like this ... I was thinking more along the lines of writing and releasing something myself.
  4. Yes, there would need to be a certain amount of conversion in values involved but it should be doable. I'm not saying, nor implying, that a Digitech Mesa Boogie model and the Helix Mesa Boogie models are going to sound the same or that a patch conversion should even try to accommodate something like that, but if you have an entire library of patches for the Digitech then a conversion program could at least get you in the ballpark ... at least closer to starting from scratch.
  5. The patches for the Digitech GSP 1101 are XML. I wonder how hard it would be to whip up a GSP to Helix converter.

  8. One of the cool things about the Helix is that it has multiple CPU's if I'm not mistaken. I wonder if putting the backing track on it's own separate path instead of at the tail end of your guitar path would solve the problem. This could potentially offload some of the processing on to another CPU?
  9. Also to note ... the Helix does allow for 2 channels of switching. This is from the manual .... EXT AMP 1/2 Connect to your traditional guitar amp to switch its channels or turn its reverb on and off. Use a TRS cable for dual operation (1=tip, 2=ring).
  10. Maybe I read something into it but I thought one of the main points with the Helix was it's ability to more accurately model analog stomp boxes at different levels. Now that I think about it, I guess this would be more of an input level modeling rather than an output level.
  11. I will be using a Marshall JCM 2000 with a 1960a Lead and a Marshall DSL 100 with a 1960a Vintage once the Helix Racks start shipping
  12. I don't work for Line 6 but I would think if you own both processors, they both have a simliar amp, and you know how one is supposed to sound then you could A/B them and compare how the Helix sounds versus the Axe Fx. That would give you a general idea of how all the settings are setup.
  13. I heard this mentioned in other posts but I don't know that anyone has said one way or another ... I have a rack and pre-ordered the Helix Rack. I have a Line 6 Relay G55 wireless system so the output to the G55 is in the back. I've seen in the documentation that you can use a send/receive block as an input but which would be better in this scenario? The Aux input or a Send/Receive block? If I did use a Receive jack as the input then I could use the correcposing send jack to output to the tuner which might work out for the best anyways.
  14. Exactly ... and while we're on the subject, I can tell you from 13 years experience as a software engineer, nothing is as simple as it seems. Just changing "a couple of lines of code" to fix THIS pedal could break functionality for all of the OTHER pedals that were working correctly.
  15. I had something similar happen with a Voodoo Labs control switcher and a Marshall DSL. The problem was that I was using a simple "Y" type cable. There is a cable called an "insert cable" that I was supposed to be using. Once I switched over to using the correct cable, I didn't have anymore problems.
