I just wanted to say that i really like this thing. The HD amp models can be very good but I have a favorite amp model. Believe it or not it is the Big Bottom (line 6) model in the high gain section. It sounds very good especially for non hd. I have tweaked it to get ACDC all the way up to Five Finger Death Punch. I have used quite a few modeling devices and my advice is to always keep searching for that sound. The specific sound you may be looking for may not be where line 6 says it is.
Just applied the 2.2 update to the Mustang and the Firehawk now works very well with it. Some presets sound great as is and some will need a little tweaking.

Well due to the information you brought to light, I returned the amp I originally swapped with the Mustang. I will give it another try with the Mustang.
This is what I'm doing with my Peavey Bandit. Sounds pretty good. I was plugging into the effects return of my mustang but for some reason, it does not bypass the preamp. They designed it that way. The only way to bypass the preamp was to plug into the Aux jack. Fender support confirmed this.
OK, so I bought a Fender Mustang 3 with the 100 watt Celestion and am using the 4 cable method. I love the sound. I am not using the Mustangs modelling, just the power amplifier and the Firehawk preamp.
I have used the "Aux" input on my peavey VIP. It sounds better than just plugging into the front of the amp. Still want to try the 4 cable method. I will have to either get a new amp with an effects loop or install one on my amp.
I definitely hearnthe "Fizz" and otherwise love this pedal. Unfortunately the original Fendwr Mustang amps had "Fizz" as well and was hard to ignore. I ended up selling it cause once you hear the "Fizz", you can't unhear it. Hopefully they fix it somehow. Not holding my breath though.
