  4. I picked up a dt25 and im running the helix into it via L6 link. sounds great
  5. I had the same problem guys. Its all based on your output and where and how its being sent. the only thing i got to sound good is a carvin rx800 powered mixer and 2 phonic speakers. it sounded terrible. i was ready to return it. I changed my output settings on helix and started creating my own patches. playing without cabs will do this too. It took me 3 days to figure it all out. need help let me know
  6. Hey on my Timmons patch I use the cali rec amp and a light marshall. I run those in stereo and have switches to change the gain stages. Andy uses a lone star and stiletto. he uses other stuff like the bb preamp and carl martin compressor. I believe he runs stereo delay too. If you set your patch like that you will get extremely close to his sound. I can somehow get you my patch if you want
  7. Hey guys. I havent seen too much info on pickup changes on these Variax guitars. Well. I had a Seymour Duncan JB in my workshop and this morning I tackled it. Its just like any other guitar except the wires go into a board. not to the pots. So I desoldered the green wire which I'm assuming is the hot wire. Then desoldered the black and shield wire. Its pretty easy the wires go into small holes and you use the tip of your iron from the backside and when it heats up/melts pull the wire right out. On the Duncan I put in the black wire is hot and the green goes with the Ground. solder back into those holes and solder the red and white together and done. It sounds great.
  8. hey not sure if my first post went through. I'm not a tech guy. I am running my helix into a carvin rx800 powered mixer then in to 2 phonic stage moniters. my sound is nasally. I'm sure this helix sounds awesome through the right stuff. but what is the right stuff. please help
  9. Hey Gents. Im using the helix into a small pa system. I know nothing about studio moniters. or any type of audio recording. i dont think the helix sounds as good as it should. kinda nasally in some patches. I need cheap ideas of options to send the outputs. right now im using the helix into a carvin rx800 powered mixer. eq is is set flat and gain is pretty much at 0. then into 2 phonic stage moniters. Please help
