I have a black Gibson SG. Would I need to find out what the impedance is of the humbuckers?

So would a high impedance be the 1m?

Thanks for the reply! So do i leave it on Auto, if so, why would anyone need to change it? I noticed lower noise (buzz) when i set mine to 22K.

I was playing around today with my hd500x today and noticed that in the parameters where you select guitar input (i.e. guitar, variax, aux etc) i noticed that there is a feature to the right called Guitar In-Z and it was set to Auto. Below that it showed this was the "Global" setting. With earbuds in i noticed when i adjusted the In-Z parameter that i had significantly less noise (my pedal is always noisy from the headphone jack just fyi - i go thru PA & monitors not so bad.) i have it set to 22K and now i have my noise gate set back to about -40. When it was on auto i had to Gate up to about -54. What is the ideal setting here? I noticed really anything else other than Auto sounded less noisy. Thanks! Caleb

So I got my Strymon BigSky(BS)! To hook it up I go FX send to the left IN on the BS? Then go left OUT from the BS to the return left on hd500x ?

Obviously I'm not a mod of this forum, but i thought it would be cool start a tread that is only for posting how-to's in regards to taking other company & brand stomp boxes and emulating them on the HD500 & HD500X. Reason is, i chose to invest my money in the HD series gear, but i really love the sounds of the external effects pedals as well. Especially the Strymon stuff and on the amp side the Matchless amps as well as other amps like Bad Cat! But i don't want to buy all those effects or amps if the HD500(x) can do the same things! So i don't really have any other pedals or amps to start this tread off with but i'd be happy to start off with a request. 1. Is it possible to make a micro pog similar setting in the HD's? I know there is an octsynth thing that I've used quite a bit but it doesn't sound quite as nice as the micro pog. So there you go 1st question up! Thanks! Caleb

Thanks! Can there be multiple externals looped together? Any signal degradation that way? So like a reverb, delay, and distortion?

Hey everyone! Quick question, i am thinking about getting a Strymon BigSky reverb pedal. I was planning on hooking it up thru the FX Loop. Is this a good idea? Or should i run guitar into strymon first then out to the guitar in on hd500x? I am going mono out to a House PA without an external amp. Suggestions, Comments, Gotchas? Thanks! Caleb

So i know the jtv's will do excellent acoustic modeling. But how does that play into what amp model to select? Do i just select some clean channel amp or leave the amp out of the signal chain?

Oh Yeah Duh! Im comfortable doing those updates myself. Is the latest version of firmware the way to go? I know that with my hd500x, invariably, when i update firmware or memory flash it changes the sound of my patches slightly.

Thats good info "TheRealZap" thanks! What gauge of strings? Can i use any type? Generally with my SG standard i use Elixer nano webs the lights. I had an issue come up with SG because i was using mediums for a while and it through the whole setup out of whack!

so how do you accomplish this? I'll be using the HD500x with this guitar. XLR (L) to the PA and 1/4 out to mic'd amplifier? And the HD500X will know the difference on a patch by patch basis?

I've been hanging around this forum for about 4 or 5 days now and i think i am about ready to pull the trigger. Im thinking of going with the SSS model because i can't really find any NEW hum bucker styles in the color i want...which is black. Question 1: Anything i need to know about the SSS models? The seem to be more prevalent than the others. Question 2: Pretty sure i am getting a Korean made one, because the price point. Any problems specific to the "Cheaper" versions? Question 3: Do i need to get it setup by my favorite Luthier? I may have other questions, but thats a start :) Thanks in advance!
