  1. Im looking forward to hear this scenario play out. I go XLR out to our Church PA and thru the board we we have Aviom monitor systems with in-ears. I notice that what i hear in the in-ears is dramatically different than what the sound man is hearing. I can't see him actually trying to re-eq all my sounds, but it sounds that way. So I'm wondering if i switch over to 1/4 out if i can get back those original sounds? If this in theory was the issue, why? Why would an unbalanced connector sound better than a balanced connector?
  2. Here's another nube question! Whats the purpose of sending the mags to amp and models to PA?
  3. Im looking at buying a JTV 69 soon. The virtual capo is intriguing. So once you enter the custom mode on the JTV itself you just pluck the notes of the fret you are wanting to be the new open position? So if i wanted play an "Eb" in open position i could just alt tune to the 1st fret and play a "D" chord? Is that how it works?
  4. We do the same thing at our church. Note for note. I was just adding to the earlier part of the thread where someone was trying to get pretty deep ;) so I countered with deep! Anyway I guess I should have been clear that I have to download these patches too. So I was talking to my self as well!
  5. I appreciate this thread so much! And i really appreciate Tboneous comments about what is worship. I agree with most of this discussion, but i feel it does detract from the intent of this tread for sure! That said...we as Worship Musicians should be striving for an excellence that is uniquely ours. We like many many other churches are just big "worship cover bands" we try to replicate, duplicate, & manipulate everyone else's tones and effects...which is where i appreciate the comment about how there is not many uniquely outstanding guitarists in this Christian Music era. Phil Keaggy and Lincoln Brewster are probably the top Christian Music Guitarists of All Time...and being a huge LB fan his tones are uniquely his! God has given us all talents and giftings (even the un-saved). We should as a body of believers and worshippers start to break out of the box of comparison and make the sound God has given us...not just duplicate what someone else is doing. In other words, let's quit letting all the other BIG Christian Worship Bands dictate our tones & lyrics lets make our own! Some of us may never become BIG like them, but we'd be confident in knowing we were playing the sounds that God gave us to play! As a side note, everything under the sun hasn't already been done! God is infinitely talented and we are made in his image!!
  6. alineux: Can you send or post the patch for Let The Praises Ring? Sounds almost identical to brewster's tone. If email please send to: bee_roll_video@yahoo.com Thanks!
  7. Iknowathingortwo Thanks so much for sharing with me your setup and all the info! i really appreciate it. when you say stereo effects do you mean like stereo delay? like a ping-pong that goes from left to right? Im outputting into house via both xlr's but I'm not sure the sound man is running me in stereo.
  8. Thanks everyone! Sorry radatats i didn't see your message till after i last posted ;) but thanks! I'll keep on rocking with this...not that have dough for anything different anyway LOL. Its just so hard to talk shop with other bands when they are all using individual stomps and speaker cabinets....you mention you run a multi effects and they roll there eyes and start squirming like they are about to offend me...its kind of funny actually. If i had the extra money i'd buy stomps too and play around with both systems...but those guys would never do the same...its analog or nothing with them.
  9. I don't think i've ever seed the Soldano model. Where is it located? Duncann in your first reply you have a picture that shows the delay on the "B" channel i thought that could only be done with amps :) LOL. Also i notice that you have not been swayed by the Input 1 Guitar Input 2 Variax Source topics? What do you guys use for a good boost? I've tried several things but not really getting the desired outcome. One thing i tried was making and FX LOOP patch and taking a short 1/4inch cable and going from FX Send to the FX Return, but i don't notice much boost and it created a hiss.
  10. this may not help but did you download the newest release of HD500 Edit Version 2.23 ? It might include some usb drivers. http://line6.com/software/index.html
  11. Thanks for replying! Well i've just noticed that several stomp box only users put compression inthe main chain of all their effects, then they run delay after the fact somehow ( i really don't understand how they all chain together...but I'm learning) and i've been searching and learning all morning about compression. Seems that a delay in of itself already sustains with feedback, so why would you want to compress it? Does that make sense?
  12. My old pd X3 Live had a clipping indicator on it. It was a word that said "clip" that blinked when clipping occurs. Is there not a way to visually see clipping on HD500x ?
  13. Hey everyone i've had the pod hd500x for about 6 months and i love it! But I'm also always flip flopping in my mind about whether i should have gone with individual stomps instead of this unit. Anyway...on to my question... Is there a way to use the compressors for drives, boosts, amps, & perhaps mods, but not use it for the delay? Would putting delay after compressor do this? I've noticed in may stomp box rigs that delay is outside the signal chain of the compressor. Back to my flip flop comment...every stomp box player i talk to always says the same thing, individual is the most natural sound and best option. But all those same players are also running real amps too. In our setup we are not able to put amps on stage, and we don't have anywhere "backstage" to put amps and run cables to the stage...so a amp modeler is really the only option i have i think. I would love just a real basic method of assembling my effects in the POD HD500x. Thanks!
  14. Just took it back! This time i tested the new one in store. Works beautifully! I think this is exactly what happened! Someone returned one that was bad, and they put it back on the shelf! Oh well they did throw in the 2 year warranty for free for my inconvenience! Thanks Everyone! Caleb Side note: Got all my settings transferred over from the HD500 and used the change bundle file extension trick seems to have worked! Im playing tonight so i'll see if they sound the same.
  15. Just bought this HD500x from the Local GC in Oklahoma. I unbox it, plug it in and the screen is lit up but its blank?!? Nothing displayed. So i hook it up to computer, do the Monkey thing, and firmware thing and its still has a blank screen?!? Is it DOA? Hopefully someone will see this tonight and help me! Thanks :) Caleb
