My interests are many and varied. I like contemporary music a lot and am at home with artists as diverse as ABBA to Frank Zappa. I also like some classical music and dare I confess it the odd bit of country. I am an electric/folk guitarist and can also turn my hand to drums and bass guitar. I have been in several bands since the age of 18 having taught myself to play early Cure songs from the Three Imaginary Boys and Seventeen Seconds era. My fave bands are the Stranglers, XTC, Cure, Soundgarden, Muse and Siouxsie and the Banshees to name but a few. I have also been interested in D+D FRPG and RPG since I was at school and have been both a player and GM. My own "renaissance" campaign had a lot of different players and ran for twenty odd years. Currently my own game that I'm working on uses the Alternity rules base and is a post apocalyptic sci fi X-Files fantasy creation with a few hot gypsies thrown in for good measure...and if you understand that; you will understand what I mean by it being my "magnificent octopus" I'd be very pleased to introduce would be players to my unique game and would love to play any RPG as well. Being a bit of an anorak I also like collecting D+D miniatures and Mage Knight figures as well. I have read a lot of books and tend to enjoy a lot of sci fi and fantasy literature as well, but I also like a lot of other authors such as Jasper Fforde, Eoin Colfer, Douglas Adams, Pratchett and so on. This sci fi and fantasy theme is also reflected in the sort of films and TV I like, and like my musical tastes my favourite TV is very wide ranging; the only thing I really don't like being soaps, although I have been known to watch them from time to time. I am very interested in architecture, particularly old houses and castles inside and out, art in all its forms, gardens, houseplants and gardening and food, being as I am quite an accomplished cook. As you might imagine I don't get bored very often and tend to find something to stimulate me all the time.

  1. Thanks for your advice guys it is really helpful. I've taken the plunge and bought an HD300 second hand to try out so we'll see how it goes.
  2. Hi there, I'm sure someone has asked this before but I can't find it. I have been using my Pod XT Live for several years now and apart from a few niggles I'm very happy with it. I am particularly happy with the tones and have got used to finding the sounds I want quickly. My two questions are: Can I import tones from my XT to an HD should I invest in one? Is the HD as easy to use as the XT. I found the XT challenging enough to start with (doesn't help being an old fart) but I'm worried and HD500 or 500X might be too complicated for me. I suspect I'd go for a HD300. Can anyone give me any useful help or advice? If you do you will have my eternal gratitude :D
  3. I have noticed recently when playing that in a certain position my expression pedal seems to have a dead spot. What's the best way to remedy this please?
  4. The carry handle/strap on my amp has come adrift. The nut holding it in place on one side has worked itself loose and is now inside my amp. The handle is now useless. In order to repair it I need to get inside but don't know the easiest way to do it. Can anyone offer any help/advice please? :)
