  1. psarkissian Thank you for your advice. To compound the suspect "reliability" factor with Legacy Variax product, my lovely Variax 700 Acoustic has now died today for no reason. it is stuck with knob selector at "red" on all the time, not selecting any models and is providing no connection to USB / Workbench or any output audio sound. I have taken it apart and checked for loose wires etc, and found no faults. Hence it is likely to be circuitry related. Can I get Repair Manual and Circuit Diagrams for my Variax 700 Acoustic so my tech guy can try to fix it? I only acquired the guitar a few weeks ago and planned it to be my main workhorse guitar. Line 6 support provided zero help when I asked them with a support ticket request. Hope you can assist, me and many others with these faults. Dave.
  2. Line 6 has an obligation to keep their equipment in use as long as possible. Why junk instruments and stuff just because it has a component fault? We don´t throw away cars when we get a puncture, hence we should be able to maintain and use all Line 6 products even older models. Line 6 / Yamaha should release circuit diagrams and repair manual for old models now discontinued. They should also release for sale replacement circuitry for the VARIAX 300-- 700 guitar models. Simple stuff like the XPS-AB box should be a simple repair. Far less complex than a mobile phone. Release circuit diagraqms and service manuals. If this does not get resolved I vow to boycott all Yamaha and Line 6 products. Treating customers in this way is scandalous. Help me with obtaining service and repairs to these legacy products. David.
  3. I have had a lovely time with my Variax 700 Acoustic.I managed to get all the sounds done, used workbench to program and save many altered tuning types.. Recently the RPS-AB Box failed and does not work gets 10V AC into it OK but does not send out any voltage via the TSR cable to VARIAX. OK I can use batteries or get a Line 6 POD XL Live and use Variax cable for power. Disaster !!!! The Variax 700 Acoustic has packed up at guitar end. Selector knob is now frozen with the Red alternate tuning selected, totally not working no green light, or flashing yellow red light. Totally not working correctly. So I go and try the VARIAX RJ45 coms cable to older Line 6 USB to see if I can get Workbench to alter anything. No ! Workbench does not recognize device and the USB device show RED no communications on Variax input. OK these are old instruments, but surely Line 6 must have stored away lots of spare parts. I contacted Line6 support and they basically said they cannot or will not cannot help. No circuit diagrams available nothing. Thanks for nothing Line6. Can anybody supply circuit boards, or carry our repairs. Line 6 has over the years shown little interest in customer support, I was hoping being under Yamaha now we would see some help for what bhey call Legacy products. I tried Workbench with my old VARIAX 300 and it works fine. Help me please.

  5. Line 6 products badly designed and are built to fail. Redundancy by design, the sure sign of a company run by profiteers. I have a line 6 Variax 300 and. Variax 700 acoustic. Both the two power supply DI boxes with TSR power to guitars have stopped working. Just lousy component choice, or most likely designed to fail. Regarding any line 6 products from the early 2000 era these are a real gamble, because 70% of them will pack up, and you cannot get spare parts. Line 6 is only driven by pushing new sales older products and customers are left high and dry. Shame on Line 6.
  6. Help !!! I have two Line 6 Variax Cabled Power Kit boxes both have failed the red power light is on some time then fails. No output volts found at TSR jack or XLR. Anybody got repair knowledge of this board. The circuit board is littered with micro components and chips. I don´t have a clue how to repair it. https://www.amazon.es/Line-VARIAX-LIN-980340105-alimentación/dp/B006HKEMEW No signs of damage or burnt out components, just aged ? Maybe the capacitors are now old circuit seem to be made 2003/4 came from a 2006 Variax 700 acoustic purchased in UK auction. Sure it was working when it arrived but now just a door stop, Can anybody supply repair info or circuit diagram so my computer shop and take a look at it. Thanks Dave. blissmusic@hotmail.com
  7. I have just changed all my strings on Variax 700 acoustic with Elixer 09 - 42 Nanoweb Electric Strings. Wow what a great improvement in all the sounds. I don’t think the 700 acoustic sound good with Acoustic strings. It also now allows string bending which is good. The Twelve String Folk model sounds epic with electric 09 Strings. No problems with any saddle pickup issues. Want to now sort out some Joni Mitchell tunings with Workbench.
