Line 6 POD X3 Live as sound card / DAC ?

Recommended Posts

Can i use Line 6 POD X3 Live as good PC sound card to support/connect high quality HI FI power amp and speakers without sound quality loss? Does POD x3 Live have D/A converter?

When connect via USB with the proper drivers the X3 can be used as a soundcard.

Yes there are D/A convertors.

There is always an inherent quality loss when doing a D/A conversion, but if you are asking if it would sound worse than your pc's integrated soundcard, the answer is likely no, it will not sound worse and may sound better.

My HD500x sounds great hooked up to my laptop when used as an output device.  I have it going to a powered PA speaker that I play guitar through also but I can play along with any thing that I have on my Laptop.

I've done that setup for recording before actually doing the mix down using my X3. I will say I had on occasion run into issue with some pops in the sound but I think those were more realated to my PC CPU and Memory capacity/ability than the X3 unit and drivers themselves.
