Pickup height of the models

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was wondering if I'm missing something in Workbench.

Is it possible to adjust the pickup height of the models? I mean there is an option for the position and you can adjust the angle but no height?

For me the height adjustment is one of the most important things to get the desired sound on a real guitar.

For example on my real strat the change of the pickup height can affect the sound a lot.

I would drop the adjustment of the angle (you can't do that on a real guitar anyway) If I would get the option for pickup height.

Thanks

no, it Is not possible to adjust the pickup height of the models in workbench hd.

use pickup level as n alternative.

Thanks for the answer jandrio.

I know that it's possible to adjust the level but it is not the same as adjusting pickup height on a guitar.

When adjusting the pickup height not only the volume changes but most notably the sound changes.

I think pickup height only gets real complicated if it's high enough to magnetically affect the strings.  (Bad)  Most of the pickup height is stronger signal as they get closer to the strings.  Pickup position is interesting because it sees different harmonics of the string vibration differently which is what we hear as a big tone change between neck, middle, bridge pickup positions.

Yeah - and that's why I think it would be more important to model the pickup height than the angle. Of course it's not easy but it is essential for the guitar tone.
