JTV High palm mute problem?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I finally tried a JTV 59 Variax yesterday. An excellent guitar, with truly amazing capabilities... except one which for me was a deal breaker...

When I selected one of the alternate tunings (not using the ceramic pickups) and I ran the guitar into a high gain tone - palm mutes had this very metallic "click" with them.

I tried multiple amps (including a DT50) and multiple JTV's - all gave me the same problem.

I left disappointed. Its almost a holy grail of a guitar for me. Any ideas on what caused it?

Does it happen on the low E string only? I've had a problem with my guitar were the E string was way too clunky . I personally fixed it by swapping 2 of the piezos with a soldering gun.

If you just got the guitar and it's giving you a plunking noise when hitting the string, that means your have oversensitive piezos. If you can, you should probably swap it for a replacement with your dealer.
