bond19
While I was troubleshooting my low E string on my 59 (because of the low E twang noise), I noticed that when I slid the bridge out of the post holder, the post receivers were securely pressed into the guitar body, but the posts were a bit loose, to the extent that they rattled a little bit. Is this normal? Thanks in advance for any info forumpeople!
stevekc
This is normal - and I know the TonePros advocates might think this is a bad design, in my case with my modified JTV-59 with Bigsby (see avator on left) - this JTV-59 Bridge post "slop" is beneficial for keeping my guitar in tune when using the Bigsby tremolo, the Bridge "pivots" like a Gretsch with Bigsby. Charlie_Watt
There is no Trem on a JTV 59! The bridge posts are held in position by the string tension just fine. I wouldn't worry about them at all being a little loose with the strings off.
snhirsch
Ah, blast. That's what I get for posting before morning coffee... I'll remove that misguided comment.
