Krenfro
Hi all, So I recently decided to switch to a POD HD Pro X for live and recording, and my question is this. How should I be running this thing? Pod > Crown > Cab. Should I be using the "Pre" amp models with my setup? Or should I be running the regular amp models and turning the cab simulation off? Any tips would be appreciated. I'm getting some decent sounds, just the whole "Pre" model thing is throwing me off since im not using a traditional amp with my Pod. pianoguyy
The real answer is: Do what sounds best for you in your situation. But the answer you are looking for is more like a suggested starting point, not the actual answer: Yes, if you are using a physical amp, you should not use virtual amp as well. Whether or not you want to use the pre-amp is up to you. Again, that is more like a "start here" than an absolute ~~~ only a Sith talks in absolutes. *Jimi Hendrix was told that things like fuzz and feedback were bad things. Could you imagine where music would be today if he had turned down his amps and played clean tones.
DunedinDragon
A lot depends on what the Crown amp is and what the speaker cabinet is. I'm only familiar with older Crown amps which are used to power PA cabinets and the like. If that's what you're talking about they work pretty much the same as a powered speaker cabinet in an FRFR arrangement. So you could probably use either the pre's or the amp models, but if it's a standard PA cabinet (more or less flat response) then you'd want to use the cabinet simulations.
