JimiRox
Am surprised no one has asked this yet (forum search shows no results for "parked wah"). Am wondering how to best achieve a parked wah tone a la Tom Scholz, Michael Schenker, others. Ideally without having to actually use a Helix wah model with expression pedal. POD HD500x had the Q filter, but Helix doesn't (or am I missing something?). So, would it be best to use an EQ block to achieve this and if so... Which EQ model? What specific settings on that model should be used? Where in the chain should it be placed? Thanks in advance.
ricksteruk
Why not actually just use a parked wah? Much easier Set up a normal Helix wah block of your choosing - probably first in the signal chain I would say. Use the expression pedal to find the frequency where you want to park the wah. Now go onto the footswitch assign page select the Wah and disable the link from the EXP toe pedal - set to none Then go to the controller assign page and on the "Position" Parameter disable the link from the Exp pedal 1 - set to none Your wah tone will now be parked :)
duncann
You could also use the or autofilter with Sens: 0 and FreqDepth: 0. Adjust Mode, Gain, Q, and Frequency to taste. You could also try doing something similar with the mystery filter. Set the Sensitivity, Attack, and Release all to zero. Adjust the Frequency and Resonance. Haven't tried this one with these settings though.
mikeolivercgp
Something that I've found very beneficial is being able to set the range value for a moderate range sweep-able wah using the expression pedal wherein the goal is to subtly shift the wah effect with the expression pedal, usually while working a quarter note double stop with a slight quarter note tape delay. Being able to set that range, along with the starting value (for a song on this week's set list, I'm using the Throaty wah with the expression range limited to 45% to 72% with the starting value at 58%) eliminates that moment where you're trying to find that sweet spot range on the wah pedal for that effect. I can now just "turn it on" and use the full range of the expression pedal movement for that effect.
