roscoe5
I was looking at the Firehawk 1500 and my own tube amp/cab rig and was thinking it would be easy enough to add on a pair of small (6" coax?) speakers to handle the wet in a wet/dry/wet setup. Our existing tube amps/cabs can handle the dry. Helix could handle the routing. While I think it's fairly easy for us to implement our own solutions, I went ahead and submitted an idea on Ideascale to basically pull the 2 x 6" coax speakers and stereo power amp from the Firehawk 1500 and put them in an add-on cab (preferably with L6 Link, but not necessary if we need to keep cost down). This could be a single stereo cab, or a pair of small powered cabs, that could sit on top of our standard guitar rigs. Wouldn't it be cool to toss a couple of these little guys on top of a DT25 or DT50 combo, all L6 linked together, instead of making people buy another expensive full guitar amp solution? http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Helix-wet-add-on-cab/821255-23508?submitted=1 Open to ideas though from you guys for some add-on powered cabs for wet. ricksteruk
Interesting idea. I had thought of buying a 2x12 cab at one point and installing a solid state power amp to use as a wet cab, but I never got round to it. Also, yeah maybe 2 x 12s is a bit large. 2 x 6 inch or 8 speakers would probably do just fine. I am pretty happy with the sound of my H&K combo - but stereo spread on stage is just fantastic. Maybe I will buy a ground loop isolator box thingy and also connect up into the FX return of my Laney AOR combo for stereo pleasure.
roscoe5
You may want to check out the Laney IRT-X That's pretty cool. Maybe overkill and a little pricey. I was thinking something maybe a little more simple, no more than $400 total for a single or pair of speakers.
