Paolo_Maina
With the external IR Helix is much better more 3D this a JMT45 with a Marshall cab found on the web for free. The guitar is a Squier Telecaster classic vibe 50. Enjoy. https://soundcloud.com/pearly-gates-66/wild-gentleman
zooey
Do you have a version using the built in cabs, as best you could do? I'd be interested to hear the difference.

Sorry i haven't it With IRs the sound is more 3D more present focused, with the stadard cab no matter which mic you use is less present. It's like a painting and a sculpture of the same thing: one is bidimensional (also if the painting is beautiful) and the other is 3D. More live. radatats
I agree 3rd party IR's have their place but I don't agree with the 2D/3D comparison. I find the IR's are all about 6db louder than the stock cabs and that gives a distinct impression of improvement. Once the volumes are leveled the stock cabs are highly competitive, and very easy to dial in. Much easier than trying to audition thousands of IR's. However, if you find one you like or for a cab and speaker not included in Helix it definitely makes a great addition to the rig... Just my opinion... Check out Chad's comparison video: Not all IRs sound good, i find the one good for me. But it's not only me, many people use IRs. I'm starting now to explore this option and that is my opnion. The guy of Helix channel teased me to try, now he uses always IRs. Watch this video that is his first time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6W1dVCknhA P.S. God bless them for adding the third party IRs option, great idea!
