PRS P22 working with 2 inputs for acoustic sounds?

I've been thinking about this for a while since I got the Helix.

My main guitar is a PRS P22 with 2 humbuckers and a Piezo acoustic pickupsystem. It also has 2 outputs, one for electric and one for acoustic.

Is there a way to plug in the acoustic out to the AUX input and create a separate path or patch that switches from one input to the other?

What I was thinking was you switch presets and it changes from which input is active (guitar or aux) OR a path within a preset.

On a different note, any suggestions on acoustic sound (i.e. amps and cabs) settings to use with an acoustic guitar?

Pretty sure the answer to your question is Yes. I got a Godin recently that has that Piezo pick-up and I found that the Taylor IR's sound fabulous with it. I actually use a blend of two IR's when using that guitar. Here is a link to a discussion here that has lots of IR's you can try out. http://line6.com/support/topic/17076-links-for-free-impulse-responses-ir-here/?hl=free+impulse+response

Please feel free to check out my videos and the patches that go with them (all linked in the article below). Good starting points, I think, for doing this.

Here's one of the videos as a teaser.

Peter,

(weird since my name is also Peter!) Thanks a lot for the video and the reply that's a good starting point.

Now I need to figure out how to have a patch switch between pickups. Sounds like a job for Glenn!

Super easy to do that! About 3 ways I can think of off the top of my head... But I like making sure I can have both at the same time. That is FUN!

Hey gangster,

I didn't know it this was you Glenn! Pretty cool stuff you've done with the Helix(and others). I have purchased a few patches from you in the past for my GT100 (now sold since the Helix is the ultimate!).

This would be a great practice/challenge for your programming expertise.

Plug in a guitar with 2 outputs into the Helix and have the patch select which input is active and switch between a whole acoustic guitar path with IR's and another for the electric guitar input with some amps and effects.

what say ye?

That would be awesome! Let me know if you come up with a good idea...

Would you guys know if you put a DT25 in the mix for electric tones - would you be able to us a PRS P22, PRS P24 or PRS P245 for the acoustic sounds during a set without changing chords around, etc.??  I'd want the electric stuff going through the helix - DT back to Helix to the PA board.  I would want the acoustic stuff to go straight from Helix to the PA Board.  Is that setup possible??

This is super possible. Easy, no problem.

Ok.  That is awesome.  I'm officially excited. I've tried going back and forth between electric and acoustic in a set but with the PODHD and DT - I would have to disconnect the Line6 Link and then connect the one of the outputs to the PA.  Everyone would have to perfect or else pops and buzzes and all sorts of bad stuff.

Can you explain how that would work??  I don't have the Helix yet.

Thanks!!

I've tried different approach and the only one that works for me is by simply using the pickup selector on the guitar period.  If I try to involve a foot in addition to the pickup switch I screw up half of the time. I use a stereo cable, say piezo on guitar input and mag connected to return 3. I keep Path A and path B separated. You have to change leftmost input on path B to Return 3.

This way you can have acoustic on path A with th Taylor IR mentionned above and the Studio pre-amp and path B for mag pickup works.

For my acoustic/electric patch I used 2 amps on the path B so I can cover clean fender or distorted amps.

I created the patch for Jethro Tull's Aqualung. Works for me. So many possibilities.

I guess the magic is the paths. Would it matter if path "b" for the electric tones went to an outside amp and back and path "a" for acoustic sounds went only through helix (no external amp) to the PA?? For someone who uses a P22 or something like that this would be huge!!

That is super easy to do. imho, use sends to go to the amp and back and the XLR or 1/4" main to the board.
