In my opinion it is easier to get good tones using Firehawk but if you are prepared to do a lot of tweaking you can get better tones with the HD500X. The factory presets in Firehawk seem better as a starting point for tone creation, but HD500X has more features and routing flexibility. If you like getting really good tones by tweaking in a complex flexible system, and using a computer with a usb connection to edit, go with the HD500X.
