Hooking up an external overdrive to the POD X3?

Recommended Posts

I believe in the past I have tried to use an overdrive pedal in front of my X3. Didn't work too well. But I was wondering how about hooking the pedal into the effects loop on the back of my X3 Pro?

Or is the effects loop on the X3 designed for a different purpose?

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Just looking for another way to beef up my tone.

I tried it. All I got was more treble response. And my preset automatically shut it self off. Maybe some kind of built in protection mechanism built in to the X3. Hope I didn't fry anything.
