More than one way to skin a Helix/DT-50 Integration Cat into a DAW...

I wanted to see the latest Helix Firmware update with DT-AMP Integration. Im sure that Im alone in this however many there are that don't need this add in. And Im still hoping for this to happen later. That said, I started looking for "more" ways to incorporate my Line-6 DT series amp into my DAW, without tone losses and also be able to incorporate Helix effects (cabs verbs etc) at the same time. And I need a way to find the sweetspot tone at higher volumes with the DT-50 without making my neighbors deaf and sterile, while also using different cabs and mics etc etc.... I think I may have stumbled onto something...

No, its not cheap, but what is when you are looking for the holy grail tone wise?

And this thing ALSO comes with software called  "the Wall of Sound III" which allows you to use the amps SPEAKER OUTPUT" tone (no cab) to feed this software using a reactive (not resistive) load to line out! Heres whats so cool- the software also has this in "plugin" form, including AU and VSTs and the software is both Mac and PC based. What does that all mean???

It means you can load it right up into your DAW of choice at 2 AM in the morning with your amp of choice CRANKED up (no cab) and feeding this into your headphones (or studio monitors) at whisper quiet levels!!!!!

Run that line out of the Torpedo Live and into a Helix aux input for example, for all your "after the power section" effects as needed, or use others (UAD plugins or any others) etc etc.

Can anyone see past the price tag here,  on how much this thing could change the way u record your guitar using real amps and Helix in a recording studio?

Spikey, I totally get where your coming from. I too was chasing that elusive dream with my DT25 and was considering a Torpedo but ultimately couldn't justify the cost. What I did end up doing though was purchasing a Mesa Cabclone. Significantly cheaper and then I've been feed the cab out from the head (with no cab sim) back into my Helix and using the IRs through it. Not quite as simple as the Torpedo or as gesture ladened but for the cost difference, has been a total win for me. Also as a bonus, the three cab sims in the Mesa sound really good and are extremely useful.

Im now wondering if anyone has integrated the two units together using 4 cable method perhaps?

For example=  4 cable method using Helix and the Torpedo Live connected to the amp of your choice...

(If that Amp is a DT-25/50, then use DT-Edit to clear off the Cab and Reverb simulations on Channel A or both)

Guitar into Helix> Aux Send from Helix into the input of the Amp ( with Wah, Dist., etc from Helix)> Speaker Pwr out from the Amp into the Torpedo Live Speaker Pwr input>.

Then, use Line Out of the Torpedo Live back into the Return of Helix (for Chrous, Volume, Delays, Reverbs etc.)>. Then main Output from Helix into the board/DAW interface.

When you change the DT's Amps (1,2,III,IV), just pick the mic and cab you want to use with "the Wall of Sound III" software.

Wouldn't that work?  B)

I must say your logic does seem sound.
