A few hours in...

A few hours in... and this thing is awesome! It arrived Saturday, but I only got a chance to open it all up this morning. I've spent most of the day rebuilding the tones I need for rehearsal tomorrow.. and I can't believe just how quickly you can build tones on the Helix. What took so long on the HD500x takes just a few minutes on the Helix.

Now.. I did have issues getting the SW up and running on my PC. Evidently, the Asus xFAST USB app and Helix don't play well.

Also... an important note from those migrating from the HD500X: Make sure you remove all of the old HD drivers and SW first. I had the hardest time getting it all to work until I deleted all of the HD500X stuff first.

Now I'm moving blocks around... trying new configurations... it's a blast. Now for the question.

Let's say you are in the Factory bank and find a patch that's close to what you want. You start tweaking it, adding stuff... changing stuff... and then you have something you like more. How do you then save what's the "edit buffer" to a NEW preset under one of the USER banks? I know how to copy a preset from a bank to a bank... but can't get how to save an existing "edit" to a new preset.

Amy I missing something?

While in the Factory setlist and having made the edits to a preset, select Copy Preset. Then navigate to a User setlist, select a preset and select Paste Preset.

Edit: After seeing the post below I need to clarify that my method uses the editor on the computer. The method below uses the device directly without the editor. Both methods work.

To more directly save an edited patch to a different location, click Save, ONCE, then before clicking Save again to actually do the save, you can choose a different setlist and/or preset location. I'm not at my Helix, so some of the terminology may be wrong, but I'm sure the knobs to do this are there and are live. I do it all the time.

Lol. Is that what they're calling is now? xFast? As you've discovered, software of this kind is usually a bad idea.

On Windows 10, or 7, Helix and the HD can coexist quite happily. Not sure what could have caused you problems with that.

Sometimes, what I'll do when I want to edit a preset, is copy it somewhere else first, indicating in the preset name that it's an increment of the one before, and edit the copied/incremented one.

Yeah.. not sure what the problem was. But until I removed all traces of the HD500X stuf... I would get either the BSOD or the Helix app wouldn't "see" my Helix. Odd.

On a more positive note... looks like the crew at Sweetwater upgraded my Helix to 2.12 before it got to me. There was a note inside about them opening it up.

And candy.
