MacShock
Hi, I am new to Helix and have the following question: I created my main patch. Which is one using snapshots. I just will use this one for the moment. There is one song in the set I need to tune the guitar up a half step. I tried with a simple pitch shifter in the beginning of the chain. This seems to work fine. I DID NOT asign the pitch shifter to snapshot in the Controller. But anytime I change snapshot while playing the pitchshifter changes to what I last used as it was controlled by snapshot. I need the pitch shifter to be on all the time for this song on all snapshots of the presets. Of course I could turn it on on all 8 snapshots at the beginning of the song and then afterwards take it away. But there must me a better solution. Anyone has experience with this? rvroberts
Surely you would just use another patch with all you snapshots and a pitch shift? Patches are not perfect to change during a song as there is a tiny gap - but there is always time to change them between songs. I use almost a new patch with its own set of snapshots for every song - well I have a number of songs that work with certain patches, so I don't change every song, but I change a lot! Why would you try to get every sound in one patch? Wastes all those cool sounds you can't fit in one patch.
phil_m
So if I'm understanding correctly, you (the OP) want to have a preset where you sometimes use at standard pitch and sometimes a half step up? I think I agree with the previous post that setting them up as two different presets is probably the simplest way to go. If you really don't want to do that, one workaround I could think of is assigning the mix control of the Simple Pitch block to an expression pedal and then make sure that EXP is set to per preset or global (not per snapshot). So you have the mix at 0 at the heel and 100 at the toe, and then if you want to shift the entire preset, including all snapshot, just move the pedal once. Since you wouldn't have the pedal set to per snapshot, the mix setting would survive snapshot changes. You would just leave the Simple Pitch block on all the time and never bypass it. MacShock
Hi thanks, yes, this is what I did. Creating a copy of the patch and shift it +1 up with the pitch shifter. Thanks for the help.
