robhicks666
Hi I'm aware the Helix Native plug-in is to be released this Spring. One thing I'm keen to understand is what are the expectations around using a hardware expression pedal (or two) with the plugin. I currently use a Native Instruments floor board with NI Guitar Rig but I'm looking for the superior tones in Helix and I still want to maintain the expression pedal. As the NI floorboard is no longer supported, I suspect I'll suffer using the unit. Ultimately, I guess I'm looking at a USB/MIDI expression pedal. Any thoughts on what might be the right direction to go? Cheer Rob
PeterHamm
You could find a used HD 500 and add an external EXP. Use it as your guitar input to Helix Native and simply ignore the built-in sounds.Might be cheaper than other solutions actually.
tommasoferrarese
Check out Source Audio's Reflex. It's Analog/MIDI/USB and has presets and pedal controlled LFO's, and MIDI clock sync

rd2rk
From the Rig Kontrol Manual: 6.2 Using MIDI Controllers with the RIG KONTROL MIDI InterfaceWhile being capable of sending MIDI messages to control other applications, the RIGKONTROL communicates with GUITAR RIG 4 directly via USB. Nonetheless, it features astandard MIDI interface with one input and output channel. ------------------------------------------------------- Have you tried using a midi monitor (like midiox) to see what the RK is sending over the USB or MIDI OUT connections? I'm pretty sure it's just sending standard MIDI messages. Worth a try before you spend more money. Also, don't discount the FCB1010. With the UNO chip and ControlCenter Editor (total about $40 plus the FCB), it's a very good unit. I've used it for years to control Amplitube, BIAS FX, Guitar Rig, S-Gear and TH3. It's not an AI, so if you're looking for an all-in-one solution it won't do, but if you're considering a separate AI it's worth looking at.
