jbuhajla
Ok Helix users, anyone using MIDI over USB to a Windows 10 machine to control an audio app to start/stop MP3 files? I am familiar with setting up commands on the Helix, but don't know anything about the PC side (or even if it can be done without a MIDI>USB adapter). My goal is to start/stop play of MP3 files on my Windows 10 machine, which is playing through USB 1/2 in on Helix. We've had a time or two when our keyboardist was out at church and I'd like to fill in some dead space with some pre-recorded pads/tracks in MP3 format. rd2rk
In Global Settings - MIDI/Tempo, set MIDI over USB to ON. You didn't mention what app you're using, but I do this in Ableton to jam along to Mp3 tracks. You just need to configure the Helix as a MIDI device and know what MIDI commands the app needs for Start/Stop.

I need to find something that will cross fade one out and the other in when transitioning MP3s. That way I can transition MP3 files when switching presets. gbbaker
Check out my patch on Custom Tone by doing a search on this name: "MIDI CONTROL1". It has a 5 star rating and is designed for the REAPER DAW but should work for your purpose in just about any major DAW. Let me know if you need help. While the Custom tone has a few patches in the A1 channel you can delete those and use your own. Be sure and read ALL the instructions in the patch description to set it up correctly. Basically, you are sending MMC (Midi Machine Control) messages NOT CC# messages. If you are not trying to trigger "record" on a DAW you should be good to go. Good Luck Bo ::::GBBAKER on Custom Tone
