zekmoe
I've tried to search, but find mostly older and Mac solutions. I bought a new helix from Sweetwater and it cannot connect to the editor. I've installed the updater but it doesn't seem to affect it. Firmware .2.210. What path am I missing? I need to get this resolved else I need to return it, as I bought it to try 3rd party patches and sounds and that can't be done without the editor. Windows 7 Pro. pbatts
I'm on a Mac, but, I think there is a driver you need. ASIO driver maybe?
zekmoe
Where would I get this? I'm not trying to record with it, just load presets. It came up as it found the driver for a minute, and the editor became active, but then drifted back to the Helix Device not connect. error message. It seems like if you unplug it from the laptop, it recognizes it for a moment, then it doesn't. Other items work well with this system through various ports. pbatts
Google "ASIO driver". It's a free download.
zekmoe
I downloaded the ASIOFOrAll thing, and it came to life for like 30 seconds, allowing me to move a slider on the Helix program and see the function on the Helix itself change, but just like before, it dropped into the not connected message. Reconnecting the USB to the computer solves the issue, but it goes back to not connected. Even with no activity, just watching it drop away. Helix Device not connected, screen greys out with wherever it was seen in the background. It reestablishes the connection when the USB is disconnected and reconnected from EITHER the computer or the helix, but looking at it and doing nothing, drops out again in about 1/2 a minute. pbatts
I dunno. Maybe try Line 6 support.
zekmoe
It's an older laptop. Looks to be 5+ years but otherwise fine (I don't use it for much as I have tablets and work laptops). Could it be that its USB 1.0? IT says Generic USB hub on the two USB ports in the device manager.

First, you need to go to the following link and read ALL of the directions for the Helix Editor 2.10 Release notes. http://line6.com/software/index.html?hardware=Helix&name=All&submit_form=set Read all of the directions first, and you'll see a "Get Download" button at the bottom of the release notes. Select that and the necessary things will be dowloaded to your PC. You'll then execute that download and it will install the Editor, ASIO driver and the Updater. Follow ALL of the directions carefully and you will end up with everything you need installed and ready to go. If you follow all the directions in the Helix Editor Release Notes you do not have to separately download the firmware upgrade because you will have updated the firmware as part of following the directions in the Helix Editor download. If you pay attention and perform every step as it is outlined you should have no problem.
