First, I love my Helix Rack, used it now for a few weeks.

1) Can i somehow use my preamp, Universal Audio Solo 610
with my Helix Rack and get even better sounds?
UA Solo 610 link: http://www.uaudio.com/hardware/mic-preamps/solo-610.html

2) What kind of cable's would i need if i can use the UA Solo 610 with Helix Rack
and where do i insert the cables, in UA610 and in Helix Rack?

It would be a shame to just let the UA 610 sit and do nothing :)

My gear beside the Helix and UA610:

Yamaha H8 monitors

Cubase 7.5

RME UCX soundcard

Blackstar HT Club 50 head + Two Notes Torpedo Live - Used before i got the Helix :)

Les Paul, SG, Firebird, Telecaster, Thunderbird and Fender bass

Relay G10

Neumann 102 mic

Interesting - you should be able to place it after your cab with a send and return - might work well in other places too - level matching would be your main concern. I would expect that you would want to set send and return to mic level.

There is a valve preamp in the Helix - I gave it a try and was not convinced it was worth the DSP, but if you are in a critical recording environment, you might find it useful - here is the original note -

"In the Preamp section of the FX blocks there is a subsection for the Mic preamp - the Studio Tube Pre. You select it, position it, and adjust its parameters like any other block"

That's an old post, and I've not tried it recently.

Quite often i run my LA 610 in front of helix. I have the fulll size channel strip, and im not completely familiar with the baby brother "solo" so forgive, because im assuming it has the same hardware connections as mine. Plug your guitar into the hi-z input. Come out of the 610's line out and go in to any line input on the Helix. Bamm!! instant sweetening.

Ive always just used the guitar input, just make sure you set it for line level in the globals. Shouldnt make much difference which input you use as long as its set for line. Using the guitar in gives you the added advantage of being able to manipulate the impedance. The A 610 compression can sound so so sweet in this configuration.

I tryed to connect my Helix Rack with the UA Solo 610.

But i got just hum, humming. It maybe because i used a balanced cabel in Output on the back of the UA Solo 610 and in Helix Rack "Guitar In". I will try again later this week with new cabels and with send and return rvroberts said.
