Steve2000
I'm thinking about picking up a Helix pedalboard, but I have one question before I make the plunge. I currently have a 5150iii 50 watt amp that I would like to use with the Helix. If I use the 4CM, can I use the Helix strictly for the effects with the 5150 amp on some presets and then instantly select other presets that use the modeled preamps on the Helix and run them through the effects loop of the 5150 so that I am just using the power amp section? It would be great to use the 5150 for some amp sounds and then hit a button for a Fender Twin sound using the power amp section of the 5150 without having to do any re-wiring to make it work. Is anyone doing something similar to what I have in mind?
jbuhajla
Yes, that is what 4CM on Helix is for. Effects in front of your amp, in your loop, or bypass the 5150 preamp and insert a preamp model from the Helix.
MusicLaw
@Steve2000, dive in! Helix's sound, versatility and ease of use will blow you away! Particularly, as you're intending to run 4CM, the Helix Floor (or Helix Rack w/ Control unit) offer more flexible I/O, and more. So unless you feel you can get by with the LT's fewer I/Os, definitely go with the full unit. Post back after you've had the unit in your hands for a bit.
