NickM62
Does the new HXEdit overwrite the old editor, or does that need to be uninstalled? If so, when? before or after the 2.30 update?
silverhead
You should not need to uninstall the old editor before installing the new one; it is replaced. Some people who have encountered installation issues have reported that uninstalling first can help but in those cases there's likely something wrong to begin with. Under normal circumstances it is not required.
Jos_K
I had to uninstall the old editor after installing the new one. It's also step 5 of the instructions.
silverhead
That's interesting - I hadn't seen that. Can you point me to the instructions you're referring to?

silverhead
Thanks - I see it now. I believe this is a one-time suggestion for this release because the program name has changed from Helix to HX Edit. So now if you look (on Windows) at the list of programs you will still see the old editor and you can remove it just for administrative cleanup purposes. I don't think leaving it installed it will cause any issues or conflicts (at least it hasn't for me) but it's now obsolete and can be removed. In general, and as long as the program name remains HX Edit, you should not need to uninstall the old edit program. The new one will replace it and you will only see one HX Edit program in the list of Programs and Apps.
shaker
You will need to update the editor as the older version does not recognise the new pedals or amps
