edstrat10
How many of you have gone from your HD500X to the Helix in your Dream Rig? Are you glad you did it? Does it really sound a lot better?
Palico
Not I. I've when to a full tube amp and using my HD500x for effects only. I still have the DT25 around and bring the dream rig for shows with a smaller stage or where need a faster/smaller/lighter setup.
ShredRex
I did and was totally worth it. The big difference for me was being able to use IRs.
edstrat10
I am an old guy and I don't really understand what the "IR's are.
artbraun
I did and really love the improvement. Helix Floor + DT25 + EV ZLX12-P + JTV69
ADBrown
I am an old guy and I don't really understand what the "IR's are. IR's or Impulse Responses replace the cabinet block in a modeler like Helix. Helix comes loaded with stock cabs, but for additional possibilities you can download third party IR's. An IR has the cab, speaker, mic, and mic placement all baked in. I hope this helps without getting too deep into the technical aspects.
