  1. I made adjustments to the Mode setting (Music, Live, Speech, Club), Location as you note (set for how I configure my setup (pole mounted on two stands), and of course the EQ settings. Mode and EQ can obviously make a difference. I go between Live and Club depending upon the venue we play. And of course EQ depends on venue and your personal taste. I usually have one of the guys in the band or our sound guy listen out front while I make the final tweaks during sound check. Hope this helps.
  2. Have to agree with others here. I use a pair of EV ZLX-12P's in my setup with a Helix floor, a JTV-69, and other guitars and they sound great. Plenty of punch, DSP capability to fine tune your setup, and very clear and accurate. They list for around $400 US. Bottom line is that most FRFR's sound good after you put some time in fine tuning everything. The EV's were not ok out of the box but after a few gigs and some offline work I have them where I like them. It comes down to your personal taste and how you want to sound in the end.
  3. I use a pair of ZLX-12P's with my Helix Floor and love them. There is onboard DSP that you can program and save to get the sound you prefer. I have used them as monitors onstage when I can go directly to the house with my Helix or I use them as my main amplification in smaller venues. I use them in my home studio and live when I gig and I am very satisfied with them. There are so many good FRFR options that you basically cannot go wrong with the choice of a good flat response full range unit from any manufacturer. I would love to have the Line 6 solution but my EV units do the job and are road worthy. I think any unit like the EV's just require that you take some time to work with them to obtain the sound you prefer. I've never had anything be perfect right out of the box including my Helix. I spent a lot of time with the Helix and the speakers getting the sound I liked. But the setup now along with with my JTV69 provides the swiss army knife solution for our setlist and my recording needs. Good luck with your decision.
  4. I did and really love the improvement. Helix Floor + DT25 + EV ZLX12-P + JTV69
  5. Thank you Steve There had to be way - it just eluded me. I was only looking at the global settings and it never occurred to me to edit a preset input block which is how I fixed it using th HX Editor I really never edit on the floor board so I am totally lame at using it for editing. My Helix is always connected to my Mac in the studio. I get my setup in order using the software editors and then just use it as is when I go gigging. Thanks again for the insight. Best regards
  6. See the same post on the Helix Forum Two forum members solved my problem Set the Variax setting in the Variax parameters block in the HX Editor to PER PRESET - everything works again Could not find a way to do it directly on the Helix Floor but was able to fix using the editor
  7. Thanks Gents! Just sat down in front of my Helix with my JTV69. There is no setting I could find locally using the Helix GUI to adjust any Variax input parameters. If you know where the Variax settings are on the floor board - please let me know. HOWEVER - I did fire up the HX Editor and looked at the Variax Input block. - It was set to Global and the model/pickup selector wold not work. When I changed it to PER PRESET - life was back to normal..... And even with changing presets - the model selector switch continued to work. Thanks much for your help. Everything works as it did before the 2.30 update. Best regards Art Braun
  8. Thanks to you both - I will take a look and let you know I have presets that force a given Variax model and they are not forcing the model currently. This may indicate that the global setting you mention is set wrong. As I said it worked with Helix 2.21 so the update may have changed something globally. Again - thanks I will let you know how it goes.
  9. I have a very strange problem that has surfaced after the Helix 2.30 upgrade. And everything worked with the last version of firmware which was version 2.21. I have a JTV69 at firmware revision 2.22, Helix Floor now at 2.30, and the new 2.30 HX Editor. The Helix upgrade to Version 2.30 worked fine without a hitch. But now the 5-position model selector switch no longer changes guitar models on my JTV69. Interestingly - the bank select knob works. But not the 5 position switch. If I am at preset 1-3 on the Variax and change banks - I get preset 2-3 correctly for example. But trying to use the 5-position switch inside a bank does not work. This all happens when using the JTV connected to the Helix with the VDI cable SO ---- to make surety JTV was ok I tested the guitar with my old HD500 - everything works fine. Using the same VDI cable Tested the guitar with my Firehawk floor board. Using the same VDI cable - everything worked fine I put a battery in the guitar and connected with an old tech guitar cable - everything works fine. I have concluded from this that the JTV is fine. Also - if I start Workbench HD or the HX editor or both - I can force model changes on the guitar connected with VDI to the Helix by double clicking on the model in Workbench HD or changing it in the HX editor input block. Not sure what to make of it all. I have filed a support ticket. Has anyone else seen this? Or is it just my rig. Would love to hear from anyone or especially Line 6 - I am baffled and at a total loss as it all worked perfectly with Helix 2.21

  11. Wow! Just Fantastic - Great Job Line 6!!! :) Just installed on my OS X Sierra Mac Pro machine and did a test run with my various DAW packages Worked perfectly in ProTools 12, MOTU Performer 9, Latest version of Logic, and Cubase. I was able to import all the set lists from my Helix Floor unit as well as all my impulses and insert them in some of my projects. (Usually where I was using POD Farm2.5). Simply amazing sound and matches very closely what I hear through my studio monitors with the floor board. Kudos! This is an outstanding product
  12. I use a pair of EV ZLX-12P's. Sound great live and in the studio
  13. I concur with phil_m. I have a JTV69 and the older Variax 500. With the Variax 500 I can power up the guitar and control the guitar model from the Firehawk preset. I cannot control or setup alternate tunings. I'm not sure about control of the Tone knob. I'll take a look next time I have my 500 hooked up.
  14. Hi You need to install Java on your system with Yosemite. Apple no longer includes it with their OS releases. I have a Mac Pro in my Studio with Yosemite as well. I have both a Variax 500 and a JTV69. I use Workbench HD with the JTV and the old Workbench software with my Variax 500 Note: You cannot run both versions of Workbench at the same time. Go to Apple's web site and find this file ----- JavaForOSX2014-001.dmg --- install it You should then be able to Install the older Workbench software and it should then work with Yosemite..... It is working fine on my system. Java ia also required for Line 6 Edit software if you have an older Pod and need it - I have a Pod XT Live that I have gigged with for years along with my Variax 500. The Line 6 Editor works fine also once Java is installed. I use the Pod HD500 Editor for my HD500 (again not at the same time as the old Line 6 Edit) - my newer rig is a DT25,HD500, and JTV69 Good luck! Hope you can get it all working. I have a lot of time invested in my older setup which I still use once in a while so I wanted the older software to work too. I hope you can get it to work.
  15. Updated my HD500 this afternoon with the new USB firmware, Flash Memory, and the $99 Model Pack with the Works. Everything went very smoothly.... Remember to Reset the HD500 and recalibrate the expression pedal. Love the Orange Amp! With a Tele on my JTV69 started Channeling Tom Petty. Still exploring but so far pretty pleased Thanks Line 6
  16. I am having the same problem with my iPhone 6 Plus. At IOS 8.2 - App crashes after launch - phone shows it is running but it crashes whenever I try to use it. Interestingly - I have an older iPad (iPad 2 - retina display) also at IOS 8.2 - Amplifi Remote works just fine with it - all aspects of the app are functional On my phone I have tried the usual Forget the Bluetooth connection Uninstall the App and re-install Reset Network Cannot get Amplifi Remote to work with my phone May be time to post a support ticket
  17. Hello everyone My Spanish is very weak but I do concur that the Avid CoreAudio plug-in installed by proTools causes the problem in my setup as well. I was working on a project today that used a Native Instruments plug-in called Guitar Rig. It would not work in ProTools. When I tried to launch the standalone version is exhibited the same bouncing icon behavior as Monkey does with Yosemite. There is a procedure on the Native Instruments web site that describes how to relocate the Avid CoreAudio plug-in. After a reboot. Both Guitar rig and Line 6 Monkey launched correctly. If you use Avid Hardware - you need this plug-in for ProTools. I use MOTU hardware so when I removed the plug-in, Guitar rig, Monkey and proTools all worked correctly. If you are not using ProTools and you have the problem - you should check all of the software you use for Yosemite Compliance. It may be another package causing the problem. But if you use ProTools this fix may get you going again. I have pasted in the information from the Native Instruments Web Site here below..... Hope this helps Art Braun My NI Application Does Not Launch Under Mac OS 10.10 Yosemite Disclaimer: This article describes the manual uninstallation of a third-party manufacturer component. Native Instruments cannot be held responsible for any damages to your system caused by following these instructions. Products with a hardware dependency, such as MASCHINE, KOMPLETE KONTROL, TRAKTOR, GUITAR RIG, and Controller Editor will not launch when the AVID CoreAudioManager / Drivers are installed under 10.10 Yosemite. In stand-alone mode the application will freeze after launching, in plug-in mode the plug-in validation of the host program will fail, which might crash or freeze the host program or make the plug-in unavailable within the host program. Native Instruments and Avid are working together to resolve this compatibility issue. Follow these step-by-step instructions to temporarily remove the Avid CoreAudio driver in order to allow NI products to run properly under Mac OS 10.10: Open the Finder and locate the following folder: Macintosh HD > Library > Audio > Plug-Ins > HAL Copy the "Avid CoreAudio.plugin" to another location, for example the Desktop. Delete the "Avid CoreAudio.plugin" from the HAL Plug-in folder. Type in the admin password when prompted. Restart your computer. While you still can fully use Pro Tools without the Avid CoreAudio driver, it is not possible to monitor the audio output of any third-party application using your Avid audio interface. If you require this functionality again, you need to move the file back to its original location and restart your computer. In this case, the mentioned NI applications will stop working again.
  18. Hello all I have had a support ticket open on this topic since November 21. There has been no response on my ticket for about two weeks now after I was given the last round of suggestions even though I have requested an update on the situation. I have tried everything suggested by Line 6 and all I get is a bouncing icon and no Monkey Window on my Yosemite desktop. MacOS shows that it is running. The Force Quit window does not say the app is unresponsive but there is no Monkey User Interface to be found.... Interestingly, I have a number of other Line 6 apps installed (latest versions of Pod Farm, HD500 Edit, Variax Workbench HD, License Manager, and the Audio Drivers) and they all seem to work fine. But Line 6 Monkey sure does not. C'mon guys - this should be something relatively straightforward. Everything worked like a champ with Mavericks...... What did you change with Yosemite? Back up and start over. Some sort of news, update, or effort on your part to at least communicate the status of this situation would be much appreciated. Thanks Art Braun
  19. Hi My Amplifi 75 did exactly the same thing when I received it brand new. Open a Service ticket with Line 6 Tech support. In my case I had to ship the amp to them for repair. The local service center here in Columbia Mo. never even answered my emails but the people at Line 6 were great and my amp works fine now. Unfortunately I was without it for a couple of weeks while the repair process moved along.. Regards AAB
  20. Hi all I purchased one of these through Amazon It is a Hosa FSC-385 ---$17.00 Can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/Hosa-FSC-385-Dual-Channel-Switch/dp/B000VXKUL0 Works great - turns reverb on and off and selects amp channel..... Hope this helps AAB
  21. Hi robmorely I put this in another thread but I can share here as well. I re-flashed my 75 and the presets also came up all saying <Empty>. In addition I did not see any new capability with my Shortboard (effects were not highlighted as I turned them on and off and app did not follow band and preset selections or knob changes on the amp etc.) I had to do two things to get the 100 presets to show up in my situation.. 1. I deleted and reinstalled the IOS Amplifi Remote Application on my iPad. I did not lose any of My Tones doing this. 2. Do a factory reset on the amp. (Hold down Master Volume and Tone and then Power the amp up). After doing all this I could see the 100 FX100 presets in the amp via the IOS app and my Shortboard functionality improved a great deal now doing all the things noted above. Hope this helps AAB

    AMPLIFi v1.1

Hello again Another note: After I re-flashed the amp and before I deleted the Remote app from my iPad, my Shortboard worked as it did before (limited functionality) Now after deleting and re-installing the Amplifi Remote app, the shortboard interacts really well with the Remote app. Effects are highlighted when I turn them on and off from the pedal and the editor tracks knob changes that I make on the amp. The selected preset follows in the app when looking at the Amplifi banks - even through bank changes. Big improvement! Kudos Line 6. This is now a very workable system. I have the Dream rig (JTV69 - HD500 - DT25 112) that I gig with and love. But this setup with the Amplifi - especially with my Variax is pretty sweet. It will be a great practice rig and maybe even someday an alternate gigging setup. Regards AAB

    AMPLIFi v1.1

Hello all I too had my Amplifi 75 come up with all <Empty> presets after I re-flashed the amp to the Version 1.1 firmware. This happened even after following the post flash instructions. Here is what I did to get the FX100 presets thanks to info from other posts here. 1. I deleted the Amplifi Remote app from my iPad 2. I reset the amp by holding down the Master volume and Tone while powering it up 3. I re-downloaded the Amplifi Remote app from the Apple app store. 4. I re-paired the Bluetooth connection my iPad with the Amplifi 75 5. I started the Amplifi Remote app - you have to login again and go through the initial screens. After the App completed connecting to my Amplifi 75 and "synching" for a few minutes I found all of the FX100 presets in the amp. Hope this helps
