davidcrabb
I gather the HX doesn't support Variax but is the input jack TRS? And, if so, is it capable of at least powering a variax instead of having to use either the battery or one of those in-line power units (which always seem to get lost!)? I normally use my Variaxes with my Helix but it would be nice to be able to use this with my real amps sometimes.
PeterHamm
There is no way to power Variax from HX Effects. Variax can only be powered from devices that feature a VDI jack.
davidcrabb
So my JTV and standard can no longer be powered via a TRS jack and power unit like my old 500/600 could be?

I don't believe so. That required that extra box on the floor which is no longer a thing with JTV and Standard. I could be wrong, but I don't think that there is a TRS jack on the newer Variaxes and I KNOW there is not a TRS guitar input on any Helix product. davidcrabb
Interesting. I just thought it would make the HX much more useful. I know the newer Variaxes have TRS connectors because I've just changed one this morning on my JTV69. But I don't know if it could provide power to the guitar. PeterHamm
I suppose it's possible, but the manual says nothing about it, and of course, they don't come with that box that came with the old ones. You might want to call and ask.
brue58ski
You cannot power a Variax from any Line 6 FX/amp sim unit's 1/4". The only way to do it with the 1/4" is with the Cabled Power Kit or by battery. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/VariaxPwrKit--line-6-variax-cabled-power-kit?mrkgcl=28&mrkgadid=3274464262&rkg_id=h-a38e64ade72c1a50e310b22c899affeb_t-1521661491&product_id=VariaxPwrKit&campaigntype=shopping&campaign=aaShopping%20-%20Core%20-%20Live%20Sound%20%26%20Lighting&adgroup=Live%20Sound%20%26%20Lighting%20-%20Live%20Sound%20Accessories&placement=google&adpos=1o1&creative=250341283160&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI39HD4Zb-2QIVQ7bACh3u5gj8EAQYASABEgLFv_D_BwE
davidcrabb
I think we've wandered a bit from the point of my original post! Encouraging though as it seems that it would be possible to do as the JTV69 and Standard are able to be powered via their TRS jacks - Perhaps a facility of HX2!
