Buckethead_10
Hey, I’m running my HX FX 4CM and using midi with the JP2C. Seems to work well, except for one obnoxious issue. When changing presets, the JP2C changes channels. Presets 1 and 2 seem to default to ch 1, preset 3 defaults to ch 2, and preset 4 defaults to ch 3. So I’ve placed instant commands on each preset so it will switch to a particular channel. The issue is If I want all 4 presets to stay on a certain channel eg ch1. If I select preset 3 or 4, the JP2C will briefly select channel 2 or 3 before going to channel 1. This results in obnoxious preset changes with the JP2C jumping channels. Is there something I’m doing wrong or any suggestions? I’ve tried PC and CC. Yes, snapshots work correctly and there is no channel jumping so that’s all well and good. It’s just obnoxious to me that when I’m changing presets to get to my snapshots I get this channel jumping. This also limits the usefullness of presets for me. I’m assuming this has to do with the delay in changing presets with the HX FX dumping and reloading DSP, but maybe there is a fix? Anyway to at least have it always jump to ch 1? jbuhajla
I think there is a way to turn off Program Change messages when changing presets on Helix, but I am not sure where that resides in HXFX. I have HX Floor, not FX.
phil_m
Go to Global Settings>MIDI/Tempo and set "MIDI PC Tx" to off, and that will disable the default PC messages from being sent with preset changes.
Buckethead_10
Thanks for the suggestion! I had already set MIDI PC Tx to off in global settings. However, I had set the global base channel to match the amp. I changed the base channel to something other than what the JP2C was receiving and that fixed the problem for me! I don’t think I should have to do that after following your suggestion of turning MIDI PC Tx to off. Maybe that is a bug or I just don’t understand how it’s supposed to work. Anyways, for me the issue is solved. Thanks for the help.
