SnowStormDA
I love the Helix versatility and the sounds I am getting. I noticed a couple of times and was able to identify an issue when I was playing. There is a strange situation I run into when playing a full chord and then picking individual strings. The full chord rings out and then my arpeggio picking on individual strings is lost. If I mute the guitar and then pick the arpeggio, the individual strings really ring out nice loud and full. My active signal chain is something like: Volume Pedal >> Red Squeeze >> Timmy >> Vox AC30 Top Boost >> next line >> Tape Delay 1/4 notes >> Hall Reverb >> EQ (low/hi cuts) >> LA Studio Compressor Anyone run into a similar issue? Is this a function of my initial compressor catching in and holding down my signal or is there a proccessing overload? I've noticed it a little bit before but it never really registered. Last night the circumstance was more noticeable.
HonestOpinion
I suppose this could be a result of the compression settings. I would turn off one block at a time starting with the compressor and see if the undesired effect is eliminated. Also check your input block's noise gate settings. A chord strum dying out initially in the case of the noise gate, or a loud strum in the case of a compressor, could be activating the gate or compressor and clamping down on the subsequent arpeggio. DunedinDragon
It definitely sounds like the compressor is getting in the way. I would normally suggest lowering the attack, but since the Red Squeeze kind of combines attack and release into sensitivity you may be stuck with just adjusting that. My impression is the the attack is dulling out the note in the arpeggio, particularly if it's faster picking. You might be able to refine things better with the Deluxe comp as you have more control over parameters like threshold, attack, release, etc. I kind of doubt it would be in the LA Comp since it's toward the end of the chain, but it's possible the two compressors are working against each other in some way. Try turning off one and seeing what happens.
jbuhajla
when I use LA Studio Comp, I usually have it at the front of the chain as an "always on" compressor, then the Red Squeeze to squish things if needed. Do try the Deluxe comp though since it does have a lot more control. Also try adjusting the mix of the compressor at 50% or below. That will allow for more articulation.
