mmmaaaxxx
What's the best way to use a pedal to control volume when using only an HX Effects unit in front of an amp? I could put a volume pedal between HX and the amp but wondering if there's an accepted way to use an expression pedal to control volume via the unit itself. Thanks! codamedia
There are two ways to control volume within the unit. 1: Insert your favorite volume pedal in one of the loops and place the loop block anywhere in the chain you want. 2: Insert an expression pedal into one of the exp inputs, and insert a volume pedal block in the unit Placing a volume pedal between the HX effects and the amp is a solution I would avoid. If you use any delays or reverb on the HX you generally do not want the volume pedal after those.
phil_m
I use an external volume pedal in front of my HX Effects just because I like to keep the expression pedals free for other purposes. Where you put the volume pedal depends on how you want it work. If you want it to mute everything, than you'd put after all the effects. If you want to do swells, then you usually want to have it up front or perhaps after your gain effects and before your time-based effects.
