grom68
Hi all, someone can help me in understanding the correct way to use Helix with a real amp. For sure, using a PA, amps and cab sims have to be active. Using the front of a real amp, do i have to disable both amp and cab? Using the return of areal amp, do i have to disable both amp and cab and activate the relative preamp? Many thanks
codamedia
Yes to all three of your scenarios. That would be the general approach that most people would practice. But there is no law that says you can't experiment with different combinations to see if you come up with something you like.

There's another possibility with the 4 Cables Method....
grom68
Many thanks guys. The four cable method should use the same approach of front and return, as above, , I suppose... Can you gently explain better?
SteveFrance
Not entirely, in front, you should suppress all your amp and cab models but all effects are before the preamp. Theorically, it's better to have times effects after this one (delay, tremolo, phaser, reverb) and compressor, disto, wha before. In the return, you have to simulate a preamp, you loose your combo one. In 4CM, you keep all that you appreciate in your preamp (sound, response, etc...) but instead of having everything in front of it, you can place FX before and after it.
