antonio_nogueira
Hi all, just bought a Fender Hotrod Deluxe IV 40watt, I Hooked up my HX Stomp in 4 cable method and it sounds great, but I lost the ability to use all the setting on my Amp and also cannot change channels via foot pedal because of this. The stomp controls the volume…. Is there a setting that I need to change on the HX Stomp so that I can use the controls on my Amp? Thanks for any assistance….

antonio_nogueira
I'm waiting to see what can be done, hopefully a Line6 guru or someone who works there can let me know if this can be changed. I read through the manual and it really doesn't talk about this.
Kilrahi
Could you guys detail more about: 1. The exact routing of the wires to and from? 2. The internal signal path on the Stomp? I have run into that problem before but it was always that I had one setting off and it borked the whole thing.
antonio_nogueira
I set it up exactly as the 4 cable method. When you say "setting" is it a setting in the stomp. something I need to change? Other than this it's sounds amazing. Thanks for the reply Kilrahi

Thanks for the reply Kilrahi Well, the reason I ask is because sometimes when I've had the Stomp settings slightly off (mix settings, instrument when I should have done line, etc.) I've run into similar problems. I know this is tedious, but just to confirm, is your Stomp setup this way: 1. Guitar in to HX Stomp main in left/mono. 2. 1/4 out from HX Stomp FX send to either input 1 or 2 on Fender Hotrod. 3. 1/4 out from Fender Hotrod "Pre amp out" to HX Stomp FX return left/mono. 4. 1/4 out from HX Stomp main output left/mono to "Power Amp In" on Fender Hotrod. Stomp signal chain: Select one of the factory presets with the "4CM" as part of the title. The Fender Hotrod Deluxe IV 40watt is designed so that if it believes its an auxiliary unit, it gives up all volume control to the primary unit. However, my understanding is if it's setup in the above way it should still retain full control.
antonio_nogueira
Kilrahi, Again... many thanks for taking the time. I really appreciate you looking at the Hotrod inputs/outputs, and marrying them up with the Stomp, this really helps. I will double check it tonight and follow your setup. I'll let you know. Old post but replying to this because I've seen this question quite a bit. The Hot Rod Deluxe does not use a standard contact closure footswitch. Sadly, Fender uses a series of diodes and voltages instead, making it nearly impossible to replicate full footswitch function from loop switchers or any other external device.
