Powerofthought
I am considering buying the above having heard one at a friend's. However, I note it does not have any drum/rhythm loops. I practise at home and play along to drumbeats. I don't gig. Is it possible to daisy-chain my Zoom G2.1u effects box to the Line 6 HX and use the drum sounds from the Zoom? I'm thinking Zoom into the Line 6 and then into the amp. Would I plug my guitar into the Line 6? Also, how big an upgrade on the Zoom is the Line 6 HX (if anyone is familiar with the Zoom, that is)? Thanks in anticipation.

Yes. 1 hour ago, Powerofthought said: Would I plug my guitar into the Line 6? Yes. Zoom would be placed after the HX. I'd also recommend 4 cable method. 1 hour ago, Powerofthought said: Also, how big an upgrade on the Zoom is the Line 6 HX (if anyone is familiar with the Zoom, that is)? Huge. It's like the difference between DVD and BluRay.

codamedia
I will second everything Kilrahi says above... IMO.... this is how I would set it up. Insert a RETURN block at the end of the HX Effects chain. Plug the ZOOM into that return block Now... leave the MIX at 50 in the return block, and use the return level to control the amount of drums you want to hear. The guitar never see's the Zoom... the drums come through without any effects from the HX. 14 hours ago, Powerofthought said: Also, how big an upgrade on the Zoom is the Line 6 HX I have owned almost every L6 POD variant since 1999, and I also own a ZOOM G3 (original model) and a Zoom B2... I am familiar with both product lines. In all regards, the Line 6 products are a large step forward. The Zoom products are incredible value... they sound really good, can do gigs, etc... but they are not to the same level as the Line 6 products. It's like comparing a compact car (Civic, Corolla, Elantra, etc...) to a luxury vehicle. The compact works fine and seems quite nice but they are not in the same league as an Audi or Mercedes.
Powerofthought
Thanks, codamedia. However, you are dealing with a newbie here. Sorry, what is a Return Block? I just googled it and I am none the wiser.

I just googled it and I am none the wiser. The HX Effects has various blocks. These blocks represent sound effects like distortion, phasers, reverb, etc. OR another type of block is an FX block. The use of this block allows you to insert third party effects pedals wherever you want in your signal chain (by plugging into the FX send and returns), and it allows you to turn off and on or effect various mix ratios of that block.
