Pass tempo from Helix to Stomp?

I play weekly in my church. I’m the acoustic player, slowly branching out into the electric guitar world. With that being the case, I have the HX Stomp. Our lead player just purchased a Helix after hearing my HX Stomp for a couple months. We stand on stage pretty close. Being that I don’t usually need any type of delay set on my acoustic I don’t worry about setting a tempo very often. When I do it’s because I start a song and need to lock in the tempo pretty early. He, however, almost always has some type of delay effect, even if very subtle, so he already sets the tempo for each song on his Helix.

Ok, background established. My question:

Is there a way to sync my HX Stomp to his Helix for the tempo? Is it possible to do so via MIDI? I’ve been searching multiple forums for a couple weeks now and no matter my search terms I cannot come up with anything even close to this question.

This is almost entirely a curiosity and a “It’d be really cool if we could do...” thing. As I mentioned, we’re close on stage so I can easily look over and see his blinking tempo. It’d be nice to have it on my stomp, however.

I'm not sure if the Helix will send/receive the tempo as a fixed value... I'll defer that to someone else.

But the Tap Tempo should work fine...

Have the other player assign his tap tempo to MIDI CC#64 value 64-127...Your stomp should recognize that midi command as an external tap tempo.

Yes,  it's very simple with MIDI clock. Just attach a MIDI cable from the Helix's MIDI out to the Stomp's MIDI in go to the Global Settings>MIDI/Tempo menu of each device. Set Tx MIDI Clock to "MIDI" in the Helix and and Rx MIDI Clock to "MIDI" in the Stomp. You would also want to set MIDI PC Tx to "Off" (or MIDI PC Rx to "Off" in the Stomp) in the Helix so changing presets on the Helix doesn't affect the Stomp. I guess another thing you could do is set the Stomp to a different MIDI channel from the Helix. That will make sure there are no errant MIDI messages that affect anything. MIDI clock is transmitted on all channels, so the Stomp would still respond to that.
