Nestman16 Posted April 13, 2020 Share Posted April 13, 2020 Hey guys, I'm very new to the world of effects/amp modelling and I'm wondering if the Pod GO is a good fit for me. I currently run a traditional amp set up (Vox AC15) which doesn't have an effects loop feature. Eventually I would like to pick up a PA or FRFR Speaker to play through but would this still be OK to use in front of an amp? I know there are amp and cab models in the signal chain...would I just switch these off and use the Pod GO more like the HX Effects unit until I had a PA or FRFR to put the amp/cab models to use? Showed it to two of my friends and they both ordered one the next day. You could get a new one for around $199 or less if you buy a used one. I typically strongly recommend against jumping straight into FRFR-land, especially if you're new to the world of modeling. Yes, POD Go's Amp and Cab blocks can be bypassed and you can use it as just effects, straight into the front of your amp. Then, if you end up with a different amp later that has an effects loop, you can try out 4-Cable Method. Or down the road, if modeling is working out for you, then and only then would I consider trying out a PA/FRFR speaker. 90% of the time, when someone says they don't like the sound or feel of modeling, it's due to the playback system, not the modeler. Switching to both at the same time robs you of this distinction, and you're more likely to give up. Also don't forget that if you like the sound of POD Go into your amp (or another amp in 4CM), there's no reason to *ever* switch to FRFR. Stick with what works for you. spg244 Posted April 18, 2020 Share Posted April 18, 2020 Day 2 with my Pod Go...horribly disappointed. I've read and watched YouTube for 2 days, 4C method... global settings...blah, blah,blah... I haven't been able to create or tweek a single usable tone. The factory tones are garbage. I play a Gibson through a DigiTech RP355 into a Peavey Classic 50 and I can melt your face, punch you with power...hot tones, and soaring sustain.
