Puddlesmaker
Question: can I use my MacBook and helix to trigger song intro recording using the foot switches. What program is needed mainstage 3, garage band, pro? How would I set this up to play the intro recording from a snapshot? Question: is there a way to get authentic keyboard or piano chords being played using the helix without having a keyboard? like a pad or something but plays keys/piano... Kinda like 3 note generator, how? Triggered with the footswitch in snapshot. I play bass not keys, do not own one, do not know anyone to barrough, not buying keys-no room In my place. Thank you!! brue58ski
Q1: I believe so. It has been upgraded to now be able to send key presses and shortcut combinations (like SHIFT + ALT) so it should be doable. Not sure though. Never tried it myself. Q2: Authentic? No. BUT, check this out. You can buy his model pack that does this here. https://fremenpresets.com/line-6-helix/
Puddlesmaker
I actually bought that preset hoping it would fit my need and it’s awesome, but to an extent. It uses 4 note generator and frequency, which I have the tools to find the notes and stuff, but I can’t get the octaves right and those all sound the same somewhat. see what is going through my mind is this. I want to take some program on iOS or Mac that lets me make a piano or keyboard chord virtually and Somehow play back the chords like the video and link you linked, using the helix foot switches. Some programs that pop into mind are garage band, MainStage 3, but I don’t know if those are the tools I need to do this and how to do it. good deal on question 1 thank you! brue58ski
I see. You'll need to hear from someone with way more experience with that than me. I have none. But it sure sounds possible. Good Luck!!
PiFromBRC
Yes, it can be done. I've got it set up in a couple of my patches for Reaper and Guitar Pro. The window has to be in focus, but you can trigger the DAW to start/stop other apps with the same press. Just look in the documentation, but it shouldn't be a problem.
