Benjaminw
Hey guys, So ive had my spider iv 15watt 2005 model for a while and now the moment i plug in my guitar jack into the amp i get the constant machine gun sound of popping , im unsure if its the amp or my guitar as ive resoldered cables too the jack port on the guitar, and sound comes through fine accompanied with the constant machine gun poping and ive also tryed turning the volume off on the amp which does stop the poping noise so im thinking the speaker is fine ive even factory reset the amp to no joy the constant poping is more pronounced the louder and more distorted preset or setting is set, im left thinking its a problem with the input slot on the amp any ideas? (everything else appears to be working and lighting up as it should) Thanks in advance
psarkissian
Either a failed solder point on a clock crystal or bypass filter capacitor.
fflbrgst
Yup, the amp is toast, although if you have the skills, you could open it up to inspect for easy-to-spot issues. At that age, the amp has done well to last so long.
