Pod XT Live Tones

Hi All

first of all I am not an expert on this I appreciate and I do like my POD Go.

BUT I have loads of of POD XT Live sounds that are simply the sounds I want.   I understand technology moves on etc but I can't make the same tone even if I am using the same type of amp, chorus etc (from the pod xt manual and pod go manual based on what they are based on a certain amp etc) and levels of gain, treble etc.

Can anyone help me - there should be a way for you to simply drop legacy patches.

I only updated to a POD go because there was no support for POD XT Live on Macbook.  So I have invested my money so now I want a solution to my investment.

Well, you may want one a solution, but there isn’t one... The best you can do is try to recreate your XT tones with the amps and effects on the POD Go. There isn’t any compatibility between the two platforms.

So my experience was the opposite of yours: I owned the MM4 and DM4 when the XT Live came out.

When I got my XT Live I was VERY disappointed because the "same" models sounded absolutely nothing like what they did in the "4" pedals.

There was no amount of turning amp/cab sim off and "tone correction" to fix it.

When the M series came out, I bought an M5 to try it and was ecstatic that it sounded just like the 4 series pedals.

I just got my Pod Go today and I'm happy that those same models sound the same, and when you turn the amp and cab sim off, it actually sounds like they're bypassed.

The XT Live just unfortunately didn't sound right.

But, it sounded like it sounds - I gigged with mine a year or two and it was a nice all-in-one solution for me at the time.

So I can understand how you can get used to the sounds, especially if you made it work for you.

However, it's kind of an outlier IMLE. It just didn't sound "right" - it doesn't sound like the rest of the stuff. Now, for you it does sound "right", but none of the other stuff is going to sound like it unfortunately.

You're just going to have to figure out how to get things to sound more similar through trial and error.

I have Vox Tonelabs SE and LE that I gig with, and thought I'd never find anything that gave me their valvelike tone in a smaller, lighter, giggable format. I was initially really disappointed with Pod Go as I couldn't find the tones I wanted.

But once I 'got' Pod Go and ignored the presets, I discovered how brilliant it sounds, and exceeded my expectations.  The thing about Pod Go is that it isn't plug n play and you do need to invest some time in it. But there are loads of patches to download from Tone Central...these vary in quality but some are brilliant and you'll soon identify contributors you like.  Using Pod Go Edit is the best way to experiment because it's so fast and easy and the visuals are excellent.  And do watch YouTube videos that have a ton of info to help you find your tone.
